Many developing countries place a lot of importance on tourism. Why is this?

Do you think
that this is a positive or negative development?
Nowadays, tourism is becoming more and more popular, which is a reasonable choice for
developing countries to support their economy. This essay will explain what are the reasons for
this and hand out arguments to reinforce my opinion that this is not only a positive
development but also a negative ones.
To begin with, the main reason why emerging countries consider touristry as highly important is
related to the economics factors.First, the government of those nations invests a lot of money in
their constitution in order to receive an increasing large number of visitors. This is because of
their thought that tourism has a critical role in their economic growth and as a result, the
investments in those sectors will return. To examplify, the more travellers visit, the more facilities
appear like restaurants, hotel,…,which not only brings the comfortable atmosphere to the
visitors but also gives money to the those countries’s pockets.Second, tourism raises the
awareness of travellers about the tourists attractions they will visit. For instance,Ha Long
Bay,which was recognized as a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1993,attracts thousands of
tourists from all over the world annually.Based on the ubiquity of such a stunning wonder, there
will be an increasing number people choosing it as a destination for their vacation and learning
more about Vietnam as well. Therefore, the image of this beautiful country will improved and
becomes more famous worldwide.
However, when the COVID-19 pandemic remains complicated in Vietnam and around the
world, most areas are effected very much, especially touristry.Because of the fast and serious
spread of this disease, lots of services had to be delayed, which froze the tourism
industry.Someone working as tour guides,receptionists,..had been unemployed.For example,in
2020,the number of global tourist arrivals declined 1,1 billions.Total global tourism revenue lost
1.1 trillion USD and about 100-120 million workers lost their jobs.As a consequence, countries
with a strong tourism industry will be affected more severely.
In conclusion, tourism has enjoyed increasing popularity in developing countries because it is a
beneficial economic sector. It can be a force for if developed sensibly and sustainably, yet a
calamity if it is lost control and effected by natural diseases.
