ADMISSION NOTICE FOR DIPLOMA COURSE IN SPORTS COACHING


(ACADEMIC SESSION 2021-22)

NS NIS, Sports Authority of India invites online Applications from the candidates who fulfil
the eligibility criteria for admission to the Diploma Course in Sports Coaching for the
academic session 2021-22.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
I) Eligible candidates desirous to seek admission to Diploma Course in Sports
Coaching should apply online on the registration portal (https://nsnis.in) before the
last date prescribed in the notification.
II) All details regarding filing up of online application form and fee payment is given on
the above mentioned registration portal. For any queries, helpline numbers given on
the registration portal is required to be contacted.
III) Eligible candidates shall be called for online admission test on the basis of
documents submitted by them.
IV) Candidates must be in possession of all original certificates/credentials and other
documents for verification by the respective academic centres at the time of joining
the course.

3. CATEGORY-A(I) DIRECT ADMISSION FOR EMINENT SPORTS PERSONS-

Sports Achievements: Represented India in Olympics

Participation in Senior World Championship

Won any Medal in Asian/Commonwealth Games

Note:
i. During the admission process, candidates selected under A(I) category are
exempted from appearing in the online admission tests and virtual interview.
ii. Filling of application process will remain same for A(I) category as per other
categories.
iii. In addition to the number of vacancies advertised a g a i n s t each sport discipline,
Four Supernumerary vacancy (Two for men and Two for women) have been
created additionally for candidates in category A(I). However, Physical and
Medical Tests will be applicable for A(I) category as applicable to other candidates.
iv. In case of more than two candidate (per gender) in one sport discipline,
Candidates will be selected on the basis of ranking as follows: -
a. First: Medal in Olympics.
b. Second: Medal in Senior World Championships.
c. Third: Participation in Olympics.
d. Fourth: Medal in Asian/Commonwealth Games
e. Fifth: Participation in Senior World Championship
v. In case of Score tie (within the same gender group), admission will be given to
the candidates who is elder in age.
vi. Rest of the eligible candidates in this category have to undergo the entire
selection process based on merit as applicable to candidates in other categories.
vii. In case of vacancy falling short due to non-availability of candidate in any sport
discipline, the vacancy assigned to that sport can be diverted to other sport
disciplines if requirement so exists. The diversion of vacancies from one sport
to other will be finalised by a Committee Chaired by Senior ED (Academics)
NSNIS, Patiala.

CATEGORY-A (II) FOR INTERNATIONAL SPORTS PERSONS

3. Asian games/Senior Asian Championship

Educational Qualifications: Graduation

A) Participation in Major International recognized competition


OR
B).Participation in any of the following:
1. Recognized Senior National Championships
Sports Achievements: 2. Khelo India University Games
3. All India Inter University games
OR
C).Two times participation in any of the following:
1. Recognized Junior/Youth National Championship
2. Inter Services/Inter Railways Championships/All India
Police Games.
3. Khelo India Youth/Khelo India School Games.
OR
D. Successful completion of SAI, NS NIS Six Week Certificate
Course in Sports Coaching. Along with this any one of the
following:
1. Medal winner in Senior State Championship conducted by
State Association of sports discipline.
2. Two (2) times participation in Senior State Championship
conducted by State Association of sports discipline.

CATEGORY-C (FOR NORTH-EAST CANDIDATES)

Educational Qualifications: Graduation

A). Medal Winner in North East Games


Sports Achievements: OR
B). Two times participation in North East Games
OR
C). Fulfilling the criteria as mentioned in category B above.

3. AGE CRITERIA:
The age limit for applicants for the course shall be 21-35 years as on the last date of
application.
Upper Age relaxation upto Five years shall be given to:
i. The candidate who have participated in Olympic Games/Senior World
Championship/Asian Games/Senior Asian Championship/Commonwealth
Games/Senior Commonwealth Championship.
ii. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category.
iii. In service and Ex-service candidates from Armed Forces of India.
4. ALLOTMENT OF MARKS FOR ADMISSION CRITERIA:

The final selection of candidates (subjected to Physical and medical fitness**) shall
be based on a merit list based on marks achieved in accordance with the following
criteria:

**Physical and Medical Fitness: All Candidates shortlisted provisionally in
entrance exam and virtual interview are to undergo the Physical and medical
fitness tests as per the prescribed format.

Candidate with additional educational qualification will be awarded marks as

7. SYLLABUS FOR ON-LINE ADMISSION TEST:

a) Specialised Sport theory Test - Basic terminology, abbreviation, technical


rules, specification of play fields/courts/arena/equipment and competition
format.
b) General knowledge - current affairs, basic sports awareness at national and
international level, awards, rural sports in the country and sports
promotional schemes.
c) Logical reasoning and coaching aptitude - Numerical, relationship,
sequential, diagrammatic, reasoning pattern of intermediate standard. Fault
finding, problem solving and analytical aptitude.
d) Language and communication test - Grammar, comprehensive, synonyms,
antonyms of matric standard in English.
e) Basic computer knowledge - Basic knowledge of Microsoft office and excel,
terminology of computer and internet.
8. PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTS:
The candidates have to qualify the following Physical Fitness Tests for taking
admission to the diploma course in Sports Coaching. Candidates who do not
qualify will not be permitted to join the course.

The minimum qualifying standards for various motor ability test is as follows: -

9. IMPORTANT POINTS FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE CANDIDATES:


• The candidates, before submitting the online application form, shall ensure their
eligibility to appear in the examination.

• Application form of candidates who do not fulfil the eligibility criteria shall be rejected.

• Online application form cannot be withdrawn once it is submitted successfully.

• Request for change in any particular in the application form shall not be entertained
under any circumstances. However, a chance will be given to the candidates
to correct/modify/edit some of the particulars of the application form online only
through the correction window.

• Admission of a candidate to the course is provisional subject to being found


physically and medically fit and verification of educational and sports certificates.

• In case a candidate is found providing incorrect information or identity is proved to


be false or certificates found fake at any time even after the start/end of the course,
the candidate will be terminated/disqualified and shall face penal action as per law.

• The name on the photo identification card must match with the name as in the
form submitted. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage,
candidate must show the relevant document at the time of
exam. (Marriage Certificate /Divorce/Degree /Legal Name Change Document)

• In case of any technical issue or due to a natural disaster, an exam in a particular


shift/subject may get rescheduled.
• Sports specific Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the
candidates in respect of educational qualification, sports achievement and marks of
specialised sports theory, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and
Coaching Aptitude, Language and Communication, Basic Computer Knowledge
examination and virtual interview.

• Virtual interview will be conducted through Online Platform. Make sure that you have
a good quality laptop and Internet connection before appearing for the online
interview.
• Provisional Merit list (Sports specific) of the candidates will be displayed on NSNIS
website www.nsnis.org
• Candidates selected provisionally have to bring with them medical fitness
certificates issued by the Medical Officer of Government Hospital of their
respective/nearby area.
• Candidates have to undergo physical fitness test before joining the Institute.
Candidates who qualify the physical fitness test will only be allowed to join the course.
• In case the applicant is serving as a government employee, Non-Objection Certificate
(NOC) from concerned government organisation needs to be taken and submitted to
concerned SAI centre.
• During the conduct of the course students may be asked to report physically at centre
any time, however boarding and lodging facilities will be subject to availability of
facility at discretion of Competent Authority.
• During the complete academic year at lease 85% attendance is compulsory to appear
for the exam. Further permission needs to be taken well in advance for the leave,
from Incharge Academic of the concerned centre.
NOTE:
1. Sports Authority of India reserves the right to cancel a course or
change the venue of a course in view of inadequate response
or due to other administrative reasons.

2. Final admission to the course will be subject to physical and


medical fitness of the candidate. Decision of the selection
committee will be final and binding. Sports Authority of India
reserves the right to cancel any education programme, change the
venue and also increase/decrease the duration of the course, due
to administrative and other reasons.

3. Candidates suspended under doping offence are not eligible to


apply during their suspension period.

4. Candidates facing criminal charges are not eligible to apply for


taking admission under the diploma course
