MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET

1) PRODUCT NAME :
REDA NATIONAL CO. – Yellow and White Thermoplastic Road
Marking Materials (supplied in Powder Form).

2) COMPOSITION AND INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS:


 Binder – Consist of Synthetic Resin Modified with Mineral Oil
Plasticizer (20± 2%).
 Aggegate – Selected light coloured white calcium carbonate
and white non-reactive sand.
 Pigments – Consist of special heat stable (lead chromate)
for yellow .

Max Pigment - 2 % w/w


Max lead Chromate <1%
(CI Pigment = Y-34)
(CI No. = 77600)

and rutile grade TiO2 for white.

 Glassbeads – Premix Glassbeads.

A) MOLTEN FORM

Skin Contact
Contact with skin will cause burns and must be avoided.

Eye Contact
Contact with eyes will cause serious damage and must be avoided.

Inhalation of Fumes:
Negligible Hazard
Should be used in well ventilated areas.

Ingestion:
Will cause serious harm and must be avoided – seek immediate
medical attention.

4) FIRST AID MEASURES:


Inhalation : Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult give oxygen.
In extreme cases, where breathing has stopped, give artificial
respiration. Seek medical attention.
SKIN : Wash skin with plenty of soap and water.

EYES: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 10


minutes.

Ingestion: Wash mouth out with water. Do not induce vomiting. Get
medical attention.

5) FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES:

Suitable Extinguishing Media:


Use water mist spray. Dry powder form or CO2 extinguisher.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Toxic vapors such as carbon monoxide may be released during fire.
Positive pressure breathing apparatus should be used.

FLASH POINT: Above 240°C (Claveland Open Cup)

6) ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:


Personal Precautions:
As described in Section 8.

Environmental Precautions
Do not allow to enter the drainage system.

7) HANDLING AND STORAGE:


 Before handling the product note protective measures in
Section 8, materials should be stored in covered area.
 Powder mix materials should be protected from rain and
moisture.
 The presence of moisture in the material can cause foaming,
spitting and expansion in the pre-heater.
 No other special precautions are required for transportation.

8) EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION


Wear long sleeved flame retardant overalls, industrial safety
shoes/boots. Industrial heat resistant gloves with extended sleeves,
gauntlet type. Full face shield for loading and running off pre-heaters.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
An appropriate air-purifying respirator should provide adequate
protection. The recommended type for dust when handling the solid,
or for organic when handling the thermoplastic paint.

9) PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES


Physical Properties:
Softening Point :102± 9.5°C
Specific Gravity GM/CC : 2.0 (APPROX)
Shelf Life : 12-18 months if stored safely and
securely in areas not subject to
excessive heat or contamination from
fuels, oils or greases.

10) STABILITY AND REACTIVITY:


Chemical Stability : Stable

11) DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS:


Waste Materials should be disposed of in accordance with local
disposal regulations for non-hazardous substances.
