3 Model Bank R13 – T24 Updater Set up

1 Introduction

T24 Updater provides a simple mechanism to update T24 components with smaller updates as opposed to the
more comprehensive patches and service packs. This will provide the customer with a faster response time with
regard to fixes.
This Demo guide aims to guide a T24 User (Bank Administrator / IT User / T24 Implementation/ etc.) for updates
installation through the necessary steps.

2.1 Updates Download

2.1.1 Extracting SysDef.xml file

Extract the System Definition file using T24 Tool box as below.

1. Login into T24 Toolbox and click on System Update.

2. Then click on Extract System Information.

3. Generate the System Definition File by clicking on Create System Definition File.

4. An xml file will be generated by fetching the SPF, EB.PRODUCT and EB.COMPONENT details from the
connected T24 system.

2.1.2 Download Updates from TCSP

Step 1: Login into TCSP (Temenos Customer Service Portal) and click on T24 Updates.

Step 2: Click on Add System and browse the system definition.xml file which was extracted in the previous step
to register the system.

Step 3: Click on the systems tab to find out registered system and select the system that has been registered in
the previous step.

Step 4: Click on the available updates by product tab which will list all the updates available for the registered
system.

Step 5: Select the required updates and download in your machine by clicking on the tick button. Follow the
installation process in order to install the updates in T24.

2.2 Updates Installation

2.2.1 Set the path in TEMP.RELEASE

 The home path needs to be set for TEMP.RELEASE manually as below.

Open Jbase shell from Start Menu > All Programs -> T24 R13 Model Bank -> Utilities -> T24 jBASE
Shell.

 Enter JED SYSTEM and then TEMP.RELEASE to change the path in TEMP.RELEASE.

 By default, the path under row no 0002 has been set to C:\Temenos…. Replace your bnk.run path of the
installed EXE under the line 0002 if your bnk.run does not match with this path. Press ESC and then type
FI to save the changes.

2.2.2 Place the T24Updates - zip file

Place the Updates.zip file under below path and ensure you are having the latest updates zip file which matches
the T24 release.
“…Temenos\ModelBank-R13\T24\Env\MB\bnk\bnk.run\updater\updates”

2.2.3 Start T24 updater

Start the T24 Updater available under Start Menu > All Programs -> T24 R13 Model Bank -> Utilities -> T24
Updater.

Once clicked T24 updater will install the updates.zip in T24 and the summary will be displayed under output
summary.

2.2.4 View Records in T24 before Release

Once the updates.zip is installed, the records can be viewed in T24 under T24.UPDATES.RELEASE application
and the release status will be updated as ‘N’ which denotes that the records are still not released in T24 further.

Start Application server and T24 Branch to view these records in T24 branch.

2.2.5 Set Path in JDIAG

Path for ‘JEDIFILENAME_SYSTEM’ and ‘JEDIFILENAME_MD’ need to be set as below.

Execute the below command line to set the path.

Set JEDIFILENAME_MD=VOC
Set JEDIFILENAME_SYSTEM=….Temenos\ModelBank-R13\T24\Env\MB\bnk\bnk.run\SYSTEM

2.2.5 Releasing Records to T24

Start TSM and BNK/T24.UPDATES services in the same updater window to get installed records released to
T24.
Ensure the new jBASE Shell window has the above JDIAG set properly before starting the service.

2.2.6 View Records in T24 after Release

The above service will release the updates.zip records to T24 and the ‘Data release’ will get updated as ‘C’ which
denotes that the Data release to T24 is completed.
Once the records are released those can be viewed in T24 under exceptions list.

3 Troubleshooting

3.1 SPF System Record

Updates cannot be installed if updates.zip file and the T24 SPF current release are not same. For example, R12
updates cannot be installed when the ‘Current Release’ of the T24 is 201207. This change is required for both
download and install the updates. This is applicable only for interim releases and not for GA.

In this case, use JED F.SPF SYSTEM command and change the 8 field to Current Release which matches with
the downloaded updates.

3.2 Changes required in SysDef.xml file

There are multiple products have been included in R12.1 release such as AML, STeP and FATCA which have
not been updated in TCSP portal, users are required to make the below changes after extracting the system
definition file.

Remove these below xml lines which are pertain to the AML, STeP and FATCA products and not updated in the
TCSP. Add the file into TCSP as per the Step explained in the section 2.1.2 once the changes made.
