Final -tch and -ch Consonant Clusters
Consonant blends are two or more consonants in a row whose sounds blend together.

When a short vowel sound is heard right before the /ch/ sound in a
-tch one-syllable word, the ch will most likely be spelled with tch. The t is silent.
Examples: fetch, catch

When a short vowel sound is followed with a consonant sound in a


-ch one-syllable word, the final /ch/ sound is spelled with a ch.
Examples: munch, arch
