Firmware Upgrade process for PTP issue switches:


A. Using remote TFTP server
i. Pre-requisites
1. Reachability to remote TFTP servers

2405:200:81c:1946::13
2405:200:81c:1946::9 – In case ::13 is not reachable
2. TFTP server should be able to reach Switch IP
ii. Commands for copying firmware
1. Put following commands

2. After completion it will show tftp file transfer successful message


3. Reboot the switch twice.
4. After rebooting, go into enable mode type show version
5. It will show version 2.0.2G Build 55403

B. Using local TFTP Server


i. Pre-requisites
1. Laptop with admin access, tftpd32/ tftpd64 software and LAN port supporting 1Gbps
2. Demarc.bin locally available in laptop
3. Lan cable
ii. Process and commands for copying firmware
1. Connect the laptop to Switch on Ethernet port or on combo port using Copper SFP
2. Make sure the switch-port is in VLAN 1
3. Give laptop LAN port IP add – 192.168.2.2/24
4. By default switch is configured with VLAN 1 and IP add – 192.168.2.1/24
5. Test reachability from laptop to switch and vice-versa
6 . Put the following commands

7. Once the copy is complete, it will show tftp file transfer successful message
8. Reboot the switch twice
9. After rebooting, go into enable mode type show version
10. It will show version 2.0.2G Build 55403

C. In case of Monitor mode


i. Pre-requisites
1. Laptop with admin access, tftpd32/ tftpd64 software and LAN port
2. LAN port must support 1Gbps speed in case the switch model is 2708
2. Switch2.bin locally available in laptop
3. Lan cable
ii. Process and commands for copying firmware
1. Connect the laptop to Switch on Ethernet port or on combo port using Copper SFP
2. On switch put below command

monitor#ip add 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0


3. Give laptop LAN port IP add – 192.168.2.2/24
4. Test reachability from laptop to switch and vice-versa
5. Put the following commands
monitor#copy tftp flash
Switch2.bin
192.168.2.2
Switch.bin
6. Once the copy is complete, it will show tftp file transfer successful message
7. Reboot the switch twice.
8. After rebooting, go into enable mode type show version
9. It will show version 2.0.2G Build 55403
