Discuss the importance of the following aspects listed below in as far as the classroom
management and classroom discipline are concerned. (5 points each)
1. Respecting Students
Teacher serves as second parent for the students, they need to show respects to
their students. Respecting students means treating them with special attention and
showing consideration towards them. Teacher should give high appreciation to his or
her students, being concern about them not only during lass hours, admiring their skills
and caring for them. Respect inside and outside of the classroom cultivates positive
outlook to the students.
2. Keeping Control of your emotions
Our emotions drive our personal behaviors. As Teacher, we must possess high
skills in controlling our emotions. We must equip our self the ability to manage our
emotion so we can make good decision and perform good judgement. It can be difficult
to control your emotions, especially when you feel strongly about a certain issue. But
emotions can cause us to say things that we don’t mean, hurt someone’s feelings or
offend someone, even if we don’t mean to do so. Failing to control your emotions in the
workplace can have serious consequences, including losing your job. Controlling your
emotions is not only a good practice for your professional well-being, but also for your
social life. If you can control your emotions, you can avoid making people upset with
unpredictable emotional reactions.
3. Maintaining A Calm Voice
When there a conflict or misbehavior inside the classroom teacher should
respond calmly. The teacher’s tone of voice is a powerful instrument. It sets the tone
and environment for the entire classroom in terms of engagement, behavior, and
rapport with students. Teacher should be calm, Calmness alone, without having to say a
word, has a powerful effect on student.
4. Eye Contact
The use of nonverbal communication like eye contact inside the classroom promotes
positive behavior and skills. It is one of the utmost effective tools in classroom teaching.
By eye contact effectively in the classroom a teacher gets maximum reimbursements
regarding teaching. By using this technique not only a teacher improves the
performance also they can discipline and remove the disruptive behavior of the
students. This technique can cause powerful feelings of relationships in between
teacher and students. Eye contact is essential because real meaning behind those
words is to be conveyed effectively. In teaching learning process discipline play a very
imperative role but teachers often complain about discipline and lack of attention, this
problem can be removed by using eye contact effectively. The eye contact is the
powerful tool for both the teacher and the learner, in non-verbal communication one
aspect is the use of eyes contact to convey message.

5. Praise and Correction


Teacher should motivate students inside and outside of the four walls of the
classroom. One thing that motivates students is by praising them, giving them credits
and appreciation. Praising is a powerful tool to motivate students.Teacher will obviously
want to praise their students for displaying "good" attributes more than for bad ones, it is
important that teachers should praise their children more for their effort than for their
success
6. Encouragement
Motivating students is one of the best thing to achieve in teaching learning
process. In classroom set up students who are not motivated will not learn effectively.
They won’t retain information, they won’t participate and some of them may even
become disruptive. Inside the classroom, students ask approval for teachers and even
attention. Students want their work and effort recognized and valued. Teacher should
promote an encouraging to learn environment.
7. Listen Before You Discipline
Discipline is one of the most important thing to achieve in classroom set up. As
teacher it is important to impose discipline especially if it occurs regularly, but as
teacher we need to keep in mind that knowing the root cause is more important than
imposing a discipline. It will help the teacher in planning interventions and give a long
term solution to the problem. For instance, knowing the reason why students
misbehave, by these you can identify the reason why he or she misbehave the at the
same time you can get his or trust if you handle the process successfully.
8. Giving Directions
An unclear direction may lead to confusion. Teacher should be sensitive in giving
directions. It should be clear and concise. Direction should be easy to understand since
it serves as a bridge between students and teacher.
9. Avoiding Confrontations with students
In classroom set up we cannot avoid misbehavior, so teacher should equip
himself various positive reinforcement method. Avoiding confrontation inside the
classroom promotes positive reinforcement for both teachers and students. This is also
a way of showing respect to students.
10. Eliminate the Use of Threats
Teacher should promote a safe and conducive to learning environment. The use
of positive reinforcement is highly recommended than using of threat. Student
nowadays are more particular on their right, and as an educator we need to be a role
model in providing a safe environment for our learners.
