Fast Fashion Notes

Fast fashion refers to rapidly producing high volumes of inexpensive clothing using low-quality materials like polyester. It emerged in the 1990s-2000s as clothing manufacturing moved overseas and western companies prioritized low costs. Fast fashion has significant environmental impacts as polyester production contributes to global warming and microfibers pollute oceans. It also creates large amounts of textile waste as the average consumer throws away 70 pounds of clothing per year.
