A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 3

I. Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

a) Recognize the difference between common and proper noun


b) Use capital letters properly
c) Appreciate the use of common and proper nouns in our daily life

A. Preparation:

1. Prayer
Before we start, let’s take a morning prayer together (Plays -Prays with the teacher
prayer video clip on the screen).

2. Greetings
Good morning, Class! How are you today? -Fine, teacher.

I am happy to know that! Shall we sing a song together? -Yes, teacher.


(plays music video clip on the screen)

Good job, kids!


You may now take your seat.
-Thank you, teacher.
3. Checking of Attendance
Is everyone here now? Please say “I’m here, teacher” if your
name is called, okay?
-Okay,teacher.

(Start With A Reading Listening Technique)

Now let me read to you a story. Are you all ready?


(Flashes on the screen, the wise son story) -Yes, teacher.
THE WISE SON

In Africa, in the country of Ghana, there was lived a man who


had three son. One day, before he left on a long journey, Mario
gathered his sons around him. He gave each child an egg, “I will be
gone for a long time” He told his sons. “Use these eggs to help your -Pupils will pay attention
mother”. But as soon Mario left, the two older boys, cooked & ate to the story
their eggs. The youngest boy, Elmo, gave his egg to his mother,
who put it under a hen to hatch.

Many months later, Mario returned. The youngest son prepared


a feast to welcome him back, for he had many chickens and many
eggs.

Questions:
1. Where did the story happens? -the story happened in
Africa, in the country of Ghana.

2. What is the name of the father of the story? -The name of the father is
Mario.
3. How many sons he have? -He has 3 sons

4. After reading and listening to the story what did you learned? -Pupil 1: I learned that we need
to save food for our future.

Pupil 2: Be wise.
C. Motivation
I have here a table with 5 columns (persons, places, things,
animals and ideas or events). Beside the table are list of words. If
you believe that this word is a name of person, then place this to its
column (person) and so the same with others.

Now look at the table we made a while ago, any idea what is the -Noun is the name of person,
meaning of Noun? place, thing, animals & events

Very Good!

There are many kinds of nouns, but today, let’s focus on the first
two kinds of nouns - Proper Nouns and Common Nouns.

What do you think our lesson for today? -Proper Nouns and Common
Nouns

Now, let us define what is Common Noun. Everybody Read. -Common Nouns are used to
name persons, places, things,
animals & events in GENERAL. It
refers to class or types of nouns
without being specific.

Example: food, student, flower, country

How about Proper Noun? Kindly read. -Proper Nouns are used to name
specific person, place, things,
animals & events. It is always
begin with a capital letter.

Example: Pork Adobo, Lara, Sunflower, Japan

I have here again a table but this time, it has only two columns
(Proper Noun and Common Noun). Going back to our chart before.
Classify all the words, if it is Proper or Common Noun. Put it in the
proper column.
