Messari doesn’t own this data and won’t monetize the asset pages stemming from it. For these profiles to become a true
data layer for crypto, it must be free for any researcher, developer, or platform to integrate.

We need mechanisms to incentivize honesty.

Every project will face challenges - security vulnerabilities, missed milestones, token economics / governance changes or
pivots, etc. Our partners invest in third-party review to ensure critical data is tracked reliably.

We ignore spam and elevate signal.

Having an application fee ensures that scams and illegitimate projects (i.e. Bitcoin Pizza) are disincentivized to participate
as there would be an upfront cost to the application with a risk of being rejected.
