What Is Self Meter Reading?

Self meter reading allows consumers to submit their own meter readings and generate bills instantly through a mobile app. This avoids estimated bills and provides accurate, timely bills. Domestic consumers in TSSPDCL can self report readings. To do so, consumers download apps, add their account number, and scan, photograph, or manually enter their meter's kWh reading. 1. What is self meter reading?

Consumers can self submit their meter reading and generate their bill instantly.

1. Prepare

● Install both the APPs from Google Play store

● Open TSSPDCL APP, Select Consumer Self Billing option & Add your
USC No. (unique service Number)

2. Understand how to read Meter

Option1 : You can scan the Meter by focusing the scan area on the Meter
display when Kwh is displayed, value will be auto fetched

Option2 : You can take a photo of the Meter display when Kwh is displayed,
value will be auto fetched

Option3 : Only in the cases where auto fetched value is not matching or value is
not fetched at all, user can enter reading manually

In all the above cases user have to ensure value & unit is matching with the
Photo.

3. Read your Meter

● Select the Consumer details & click on scan Meter

● Ensure proper Meter reading done in any of the above options

4. Generate your Bill & Pay Instantly

● Click on next to generate instant Bill

● Download your Bill copy

● Click on proceed to pay to do the Payment

5. Which reading in the meter has to be taken?

At present only Kwh reading is considered for billing

6. If unable to scan how to go about?

If scan is not possible (due to some reflection on display/ fast scrolling of reading in
meter/dirty Meter display) check on unable to scan

Click on capture photo when kWh reading is displayed value will be auto fetched.

Incase value is not auto fetched, then enter the same value manually and Save.

*Ensure reading in image should match with the reading you entered manually

7. When an image of the reading with kWh is captured, what is the next step?

a. After capturing click on save- reading will be verified


b. After successful verification, Click on next button
c. Bill is generated
8. Can consumers scan/capture images of the meter readings any time during
the month for bill generation?

No, only on or after their bill date (date on which day the consumer got the electricity
bill in the previous month).

9. How to save the bill after submission?

Can download and save the copy of e-bill generated after submitting your reading.

10. How to pay the bill? To be paid immediately or any time before the due date?

You can pay your bill through any of the online payment modes available immediately
or before the due date as per your convenience.

11. Why is the bill shown as a provisional bill?

In order to give an actual Bill in case of exceptions like abnormal high/low bills
generated due to incorrect meter reading done by the consumer. In all in the other
cases it is your actual Bill only.

12. If the meter reader gives the physical bill can the consumer go for self meter
reading?

Yes can do it, till the utility App stops you with a message that your bill is already
generated.

13. Whom to contact in case of doubts or problems?

In case of any queries/issues related to


● Meter reading, connect through in-app chat support from scan screen
● Billing related, report in TSSPDCL APP
14. Is there any mechanism to get the bill from the TSSPDCL website?

You can view the Bill, after Self Meter reading is done successfully from TSSPDCL
APP

15. Is there any demo video available for the guidance of consumers for self
metering?

16. Can we submit self reading and generate bills for multiple meters?

Yes, repeat the process by selecting the details of different meters/USC No. to
generate bills for multiple meters

17. How to avoid the reflections on the meter while scanning?

Take dark cloth which covers the meter and mobile to avoid reflection while scanning
or do the self meter reading during the time when reflection is not
there.

18. Where can I find printed e-bill?

If you have successfully done the self Meter reading, you can find the Bill copy in
download option available in by selecting the respective USC No.

19. What to do if my meter won't read the value after decimal during the
scanning?

Click on rescan and try to capture reading with decimal value. Still the decimal is not
detected then please edit the value manually and click on save button.
