Ladies and gentlemen, as we are about to begin, please be seated.
Invocation Good morning everyone, we would like to ask everyone to please rise for the/ May I
request all of you to stand for the opening prayer lead by Mr. David Joseph Gil, Vice
President for Marketing and Multimedia Affairs.

Please remain standing for the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the
determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to
the task at hand.”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A very good morning once again to everyone and welcome to Makabagong Autismo
sa Ika-21 Siglo. Our event for today will surely give us a lot of learning about this
function of human resources. So please sit down, relax and enjoy the rest of the
afternoon. 

It is my delight to be your emcee tonight for this informative seminar. I am Vio Ocenar.
We hope you will find the program we have lined-up for you to be fruitful and
engaging.

Opening To kick-off this afternoon’s program, we are pleased to have with us with the Vice
Remarks President for External Affairs of Hands in Inclusion, Mr. Zedrick Jon B. Mariano to
deliver the opening remarks.

Introduction Hands in Inclusion is a community that involves inclusion everywhere in the


of the guest Philippines. We are the community that hear stories from the people who are
speakers advocating inclusion and learn from them to be aware of the need for inclusion in the
given society in hopes that an inclusive Philippine society becomes tangibly possible.

“MAKABAGONG AUTISMO SA IKA-21 SIGLO” (“Modern Autism in the 21st Century”),


the first seminar of Hands In Inclusion, is one of the major steps to fulfill this vision. It
is one of the major campaigns for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities where the
speakers discuss their stories of success and reasons for PWD Inclusion, as well as
other related information

Let us introduce our First Speaker. She is a Clinical Psychology Professor in Columbia
University. She is the Founder and Current President, Association for Adults with
Autism Philippines and Editor of “Growing Up with Autism: Journeys of Love, Devotion
and Hope, Mothers and Fathers Speak”. Please welcome her a warm of applause, Dr.
Lirio Covey.

Thank you very much Dr. Covey for your amazing presentation. Our next speaker is
an Atenean Alumni. He was diagnosed with Autism at 3 Years Old. He was graduated
with honors from Prep to High School, Valedictorian in High School until Magna Cum
Laude and Program Awards during his college days in Ateneo de Manila University.
He is currently taking his Masteral’s Degree at Ateneo de Manila University. He is a
supporter of some organizations and owns some cartoon series and food blog. Please
welcome him a warm of applause, Mr. Kiel Lagmay.

Thank you very much Kiel for your inspiring story. Our next speaker is an Associated
Professor, Department of Pediatrics in University of The Philippines College of
Medicine. She is the Current President of International Developmental Pediatric
Association. She is the former Medical Consultant Adviser of Autism Society
Philippines and the current Director of Center for Autism and Developmental Medicine
in St. Luke’s Global City. Please welcome her a warm of applause, Dr. Alexis Reyes.

Thank you very much Dr. Reyes for your facts on Autism. Our next speaker is Former
President and Executive Director of Autism Society Philippines National Headquarters.
She is currently working as teacher, instructor and supervisor in different schools. She
is A very active Autism Advocate, mother of adult with Autism. In 2015, her family was
conferred the prestigious 2015 Jollibee Family Values Award for its exceptional
contribution to the empowerment of Filipinos with Autism. Please welcome her a warm
of applause, Mrs. Jan Pena.

Thank you very much Mommy Jan for your brilliant story. Our next speaker is one of
the conveners of Autism Strong Philippines. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s
Syndrome at the age of 21. He was graduated of Bachelor’s Degree in Computer
Science and Information Technology at Asia Pacific College. He is currently working
as an Admin Staff at IP Cloud Net Solutions, Inc. Please welcome him a warm of
applause, Mr. Joel Nava.

Thank you very much Joel for your inspiring story. Our final speaker is the Work
Access Coordinator of Project Inclusion Network. Project Inclusion Network is a
nonprofit organization that aims to build a nation where the potential of Persons with
Disability is maximized. Since 2013, PIN has improved access to work opportunities
for 1,800 Persons with Disability through its programs - facilitating career readiness
assistance, skills training, and employment advocacy for Persons with Disability. 200
of them now hold full-time positions in 35 companies from various industries. The
organization supports the transitions of both employer and employee towards a
workplace where everyone is in a position to succeed. She facilitates the job matching
process and transition support activities of the organization. She works with
organizations willing to hire Persons with Disability to support their steps towards
becoming inclusive workplaces. After working as an HR practitioner for over five years,
she hopes to share with fellow HR professionals and people leaders the vision of
building a healthier and more inclusive Philippines, one workplace, one Person with
Disability at a time. Please welcome her a warm of applause, Ms. Angela Santiago.
