An issue all about SUMMER

BY HEIDI BEE ROEMER
POEM

Lilly Loves to

Sw ing!
Lilly’s swinging to and fro.
Her feet reach high. Her feet dip low.
She taps the sun with her bare toe
as she goes swinging to and fro.

Tip » Whee! Swinging is a sensory thrill for your

child. Look for swings that are smooth and
have safety belts or straps.

STORY

Walk to the park in the hot hot sun!

Under the blue sky, run run run.
Outing

Chase a tiny green frog hop hop by.

Wave to the bicycles. Hi hi hi!
There goes a dragonfly. Zip zip whir.
My feet in the fountain feel brr brr brr.

Tip » As you read the story, point out the details. Notice all the
senses: things to see, hear, smell, feel, and taste!
Man is selling ice cream. Can I have some?
I got strawberry. Yum yum yum.

Sand on my eyelids.
Sand on my knees.
