CONTENT & DISCUSSION:

MULTIMEDIA is a combination of text, animated graphics, video and sound delivered to you via
electronic means. It is what appeals to users for entertainment, learning and research. It is the field concerned with the
computer-controlled integration of text, graphics, drawings, still and moving images (Video), animation, audio, and any
other media where every type of information can be represented, stored, transmitted and processed digitally.

The internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standardized internet
protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a hardware while the world wide web is the software
that runs on the internet.

I-NFORMATION is the resolution of uncertainty; it is that which answers the question of "what an entity is" and is thus
that which specifies the nature of that entity, as well as the essentiality of its properties.

C-OMMUNICATION refers to the transmission of this digital data between two or more computers and a computer
network or data network is a telecommunications network that allows computers to exchange data.

T-ECHNOLOGY is the collection of techniques, skills, methods, and processes used in the production of goods or services
or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation.

ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is similar to Information
Technology (IT), but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell
phones, and other communication mediums.

Types and Components of ICT

 Hardware. The physical components that constitute the computer system, such as the monitor, the keyboard,
the motherboard, and the printer.
 Software. Programs and other operating information used by a computer.
 ROM. Read Only Memory. A form of data storage in computers and other electronic devices that can not be
easily altered or reprogrammed.
 Mainframe. A large powerful computer used to handle company wide information. Used by large industries for
critical purposes, like transactions.
 Netbook. Can perform a majority of functions of desktop or laptop and is very mobile, they look like miniature
laptops.
 Central processing unit (CPU). Part of a computer in which operations are controlled and executed. The part of a
computer system that is commonly referred to as the "brains" of a computer. The CPU is also known as the
processor or microprocessor.
 Operating systems. The software that supports a computer basic function.
 GUI. Graphical User Interface. A human computer interface, it's a way for humans to interact with computers
 RAM. Random Access Memory. is the memory in a computer that is used to store computer programs while
they are running and also any data the programs need to undertake their task. It's lost when the power is turned
off
 PDA. Personal Digital Assistant. Works as a personal organizer and provides email and Internet access
 Graphical user interface. A visual way of interacting with a computer using Windows and icons.

ICT as Medium for Advocacy & Developmental Communication

Advocacy. A process of supporting and enabling people to express views and concerns, access information and services,
defend and promote rights and responsibilities.
Advantages of ICT in the Society
 ICT denotes abut all technology innovations that was centered to maximize the potential use of
telecommunication systems with all its various forms. ICT is the key dimensions of globalizations.
 ICT enhances the empowerment of civil society by increasing the capacity to work as organized networks
 ICT hep improve empowerment and participation in policy debates by creating linkages

Global Digital Divide. The unequal distribution of information and communication technology across nations, known as
the gap information between the haves and have-nots.

Digital Citizenship & the Filipino People

Responsible posting of information online is part of being a citizen in a digital world. Below are the kinds of digital
