Printers: Settings and problems

You should try to disable the bidirectional communication between printer and printer driver as
well as all other printer monitors. If that does not work, another interface or another WIBU-
BOX (BOX/SP or BOX/U) should be used.

HP LaserJet 5L/5P with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under Windows 95/

98/NT4.0
TIP: It is recommended installing the PCL printer driver.

HP LaserJet 6P/6MP
PROBLEM: Installing the HP LaserJet Toolbox, printing does not work together with the
WIBU-BOX/P. WIBU-BOX/P is only found in the Shared mode (Setup "Shared Mode" in the
WIBU-KEY CPL). The LaserJet Toolbox is similiar to a status monitor which, actually, is
superflous. The LaserJet Toolbox communicates permanently with the printer in order to
display a window on the screen in case of status modifications. The interface is not even
released between two printing jobs.
SOLUTION Windows 95/98: The printer driver should be completely deinstalled and then
reinstalled as "adapted installation". The HP LaserJet Toolbox must not be selected. Nothing
else must be modified.The "improved printer driver", the "default printer driver" as well as the "
postscript printer driver" work properly with the WIBU-BOX/P in the bidirectional mode. You
can print and at the same time access the WIBU-BOX. The "Shared Mode" on the Setup page
of the WIBU-KEY CPL is not activated.
SOLUTION Windows NT 4.0: Printing and accessing the BOX at the same time does not
work under Windows NT.

HP OfficeJet 635 with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under Windows 95/98

PROBLEM: Accessing the WIBU-BOX, the HP status monitors displays that the connection
to the HP OfficeJet 635 (multifunctional device: scans, prints, fax) has been cut off.
EXTENSION: The same is true for HP OfficeJet 600, HP OfficeJet 1150C and HP 3100.
SOLUTION: It is recommended using the 2. interface or another WIBU-BOX variant.
NOTE: It is not a problem to access the WIBU-BOX without accessing the printer. After a
short time, an error message from the HP status monitor can appear saying that the connection
to the printer has beeen cut off. Push the button "Restore connection". The printer (scans, prints,
fax) operates properly with a connected WIBU-BOX/P when the BD mode is activated.
Printing or scanning and simultaneously acessing the WIBU-BOX does not work. Accessing
the WIBU-BOX works but the printer is out of order and has to be switched off/on. Then the
connection can be restored.

HP DeskJet 600/660C with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under Windows 95

PROBLEM: The printer driver, delivered by HP, checks during the printing permanently the
status of the printer.The attempt to use the parallel port, only for a short time, provokes an error
message.
SOLUTION: Permanently checking the printer status is not strictly necessary. If a PC does not
have a parallel interface or a similiar cable, such a checking is not possible.Therefore HP has
installed a program in the system directory of Windows which is named, according to the
printer driver, HPFCFG02.EXE, HPFCFG03.EXE, HPFCFG04.EXE or HPRCFG01.EXE. If
this program is started and the following warning message is answered with "Continue" a
dialog is displayed where different printer features can be modified.The check box
"Bidirectional communication" must be deactivated.

HP DeskJet 820Cxi with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under 98/NT4.0

TIP: Under Windows 98 you should dispense with a communication test of the printer and the
PC because this test can provoke a violation and the PC must be rebooted. Errors may occur
when accessing simultaneously the WIBU-BOX and the printer. In this case push the button
"ignore". However, the printout is always okay. Under Windows NT the printing job can be
slowed down, when accessing the WIBU-BOX. Under both operating systems, the "shared
mode" must not be activated.

HP DeskJet 895Cxi with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under Windows 98/NT4.0

TIP: The HP DeskJet 895Cxi (tested with HP-Treiber 11.1.4) works properly with the WIBU-
BOX/P. Under Windows 98 you should dispense with a Plug&Play driver installation of the
printer and instead realize a regular setup. Errors may occur when accessing simultaneously the
WIBU-BOX and the printer. In this case push the button "ignore". However, the printout is
always okay. Under Windows NT the WIBU-BOX/P works properly with the printer. Under
both operating systems, the "shared mode" must not be activated.

HP LaserJet 1100 with WIBU-BOX/P at LPT tested under Windows 95/

98/NT4.0
TIP: The HP LaserJet 1100 works properly with the WIBU-BOX/P. However, under Windows
98 and Windows NT4.0 the "shared mode" should be activated

Canon LBP-730 under Windows 95

PROBLEM: Under Windows 95 the printer Canon LBP-730 (A3, Postscript, 8 pages/minute,
600dpi, only on the japanese market available) is not found, if a WIBU-BOX/P(4) is connected
between PC and printer. It works properly with the WIBU-BOX/P36 or the old version of the
WIBU-BOX/P (Serialnumber < 4-345137).
CAUSE: Special printer driver of Canon under Windows 95.
SOLUTION: It is recommended using another interface or another printer driver.
NOTE: Under Windows NT the printer works properly with the connected WIBU-BOX.

Printer EPSON Stylus Pro Color

PROBLEM: Under Novell Netware this printer does not work with the WkSvNw.NLM,
version 2.50. The driver implementation of EPSON does not permit another use of the parallel
port.
Solution: It is recommended using another interface or another WIBU-BOX variant.

EPSON EPL 5600 under Windows 95

PROBLEM: Printing out the test page under Windows 95 with the WIBU-KEY drivers (tested
version 2.40) is not possible without receiving an error message.
Solution: It is recommended using another interface card or another WIBU-BOX variant.

Lexmark Optra N printer

PROBLEM: Under Novell Netware this printer does not work with the WkSvNw.NLM,
version 2.50. The driver implementation of Lexmark does not permit another use of the parallel
port. This printer is a special high-perfomance printer, which needs at least one ECP interface.
Solution: It is recommended using another interface card or another WIBU-BOX variant.

Lexmark Optra SC1275 printer

PROBLEM: Under Windows 95 no WIBU-BOX is found after installing this printer. The
driver implementation of Lexmark does not permit another use of the parallel port. Also "shared
mode" does not work.
Solution: It is recommended using another interface card or another WIBU-BOX variant.
 Printer Linotronic 260
PROBLEM: Under Novell Netware this printer does not work with the WkSvNw.NLM,
version 2.50. The driver implementation of Linotronic does not permit another use of the
parallel port.
