Foreword
Printlink5-IN is an imager server that receives diagnostic images across the network from various DICOM devices via
diagnostic devices, direct digitizers, and other Printlinks etc, and automatically sends them to the desired imager or
storage location (host device).
This pre-installations guide sets out the preparations deemed necessary prior to installation of Printlink5-IN.

1 System Overview

1.1 Main Functions of Printlink5-IN

Data reception
Supports DICOM PRINT and BASIC GRAY SCALE and supports input of up to 16 channels.
• DICOM devices of different manufacturer that support DICOM PRINT and BASIC GRAY SCALE
• Various non-DICOM devices via Printlink/Printlink II/Printlink III
• Toshiba Ether protocol input
Data input/output
Supports DICOM PRINT, BASIC GRAY SCALE, and DICOM STORAGE. 16 channels are available for data
input. Up to 8 channels with imager output, storage output and printer output combined are supported for data
output.

• OCR is possible for input channel 1 to 8.

Important • Setting 8 channels for imager output or storage output is possible. However, to operate
imager output, set up to 4 channels for imager output.

Saving data
• Output data of up to 100 cases can be saved per input.
(Protected image data is included.)
• Previous image data is automatically deleted.
Image data can be stored for a long period of time by using the protect function.
• Image data that is stored temporarily can be output with changed parameters, or simply re-output.
Imager backup function
• Supports our DRYPRO series and DICOM imagers of other companies.
• When an imager error occurs, you can switch output destination imagers.
(In an imager in which film of the same size and type as that of the one in which the problem occurred is
connected.)

To use the imager backup function by connecting DICOM of different company, the DICOM
imager needs to support N-GET and respond to Printlink5-IN concerning an error status, print
Caution queue status, and the number of remaining sheets of film.
For more information, consult customer service personnel of the DICOM imager manufacturer.

Patient data overlay function

Data such as patient ID and patient name can be enlarged to print on the film.
For more information, contact your service representatives.

When DRYPRO 873 is set as an output destination imager, the Printlink5-In overlay function
does not work, and settings on the DRYPRO 873 side are effective.

Power OFF function

When you operate Printlink5-IN with the power OFF function of DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873 turned on,
DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873 works as indicated below.
• When you shut down Printlink5-IN, DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873 is also shut down.
• When you start Printlink5-IN, DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873 also starts.
• When you shut down DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873, Printlink5-IN is also shut down.
• When you execute the stand-by mode of DRYPRO 873, Printlink5-IN is shut down.
• When you start DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873, Printlink5-IN also starts.

• Even if the Power OFF Mode is set to "ON", the power OFF function will not operate
immediately after Windows has been shut down without selecting [Exit] from the [Operation]
Important menu in the Printlink5-IN main window. In this case, DRYPRO 832 or DRYPRO 873 will be
powered off in about 3 minutes after Printlink5-IN has been turned off.
• Due to the function for detecting unconnected PCs, the following message appears on the
operation panel of DRYPRO, and DRYPRO is shut down approximately 3 minutes later.
• Cannot connect to PC

Printer Ouput
• Can be output to Windows-compliant printer.

2 Installation Overview

2.1 Installation Conditions

„ Installation location
Check that the installation location meets the following requirements.
• Be careful not to block the ventilation holes in the front and back of the unit when using the machine.
• Well-ventilated place (e.g. near the window).
• Flat and sturdy table or base large enough to install the Printlink5-IN.
• Check that the length of the supplied Printlink5-IN connection cable is the correct length for the locations in
which the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are installed.
• Check that the power supply, grounding location, and cable length are all suitable.
• Even if it is 100 V3P, consider the ground separately.
• If it is class 3 and the voltage potential is below 30 mV, connect it to the ground. If the voltage potential
exceeds 30 mV, synchronize it with the connected diagnostic device basically.
In such a case, check with a diagnostic device technician as to whether it can be synchronized.
• Check that the network cables and network hub reach the Printlink5-IN installation location.
Unsuitable installation locations
Please do not install in the following locations.
• Near magnetic items or items that emit magnetism
• Locations that have extremely high or low pressure, or locations that have temperatures or humidity outside
the operation usage environment range
• Poorly ventilated areas
• Locations in direct sunlight
• Locations that have dust, salinity, inflammable gas, or air containing sulfur
• Place where the machine is subject to inclination, vibration or shock (including during transportation)
• Locations in which chemicals or medicines are stored, or where gas may be generated
• Locations where the frequency and power of the input power or the allowable current value (or power
consumption) cannot be guaranteed
• Locations where the grounding cannot be installed correctly
Also, avoid placing the device directly on the floor.

„ Installation Space
Check the place where installation space as shown below can be secured.
Information inside ( ) indicates space required for installation or maintenance.

100mm (600mm) or more

100mm (600mm) or more 100mm (600mm) or more

„ Route of Conveyance
Check that the passageway from the point of delivery to the installation location is large enough to allow transfer of
the device. In particular, the doorway through which the device is carried must be sufficiently large.

3 Preparatory Work on-site

Perform the work below before connecting the existing DICOM device to the Printlink5-IN.

1 Create a network settings list table for each connected device

There are many connected devices. Therefore, create a list table of the AETitle, IP address, net mask, port number,
and router gateway settings etc., for all connected devices.
Make sure that the connection configuration and flow of data are described clearly.

Assume that the Printlink5-IN is installed in the site with the system configured as shown below.
(The address is an assumed value.)

2 Backing up settings for each connected device

You need to return the settings for each connected device to their original settings if for some reason you cannot
install the Printlink5-IN (faulty LAN board etc).
