Chapter 3 Methodology
METHODOLOGY
This chapter of the study deals with the methods and techniques that the researchers will
apply in collecting data essential for the study. It also contains the research instruments and
statistical treatment which will be used by the researchers for data gathering.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The researcher’s method utilized was the descriptive method which mainly employed the
survey questionnaires. As Koh, Eunsook T. and Owen, Willis L. (2000) has explained that
descriptive research is a study of status and is widely used in education, nutrition, epidemiology,
and the behavioral sciences. Its value is based on the premise that problems can be solved and
practices improved through observation, analysis, and description. The most common
descriptive research method is the survey, which includes questionnaires, personal interviews,
phone surveys, and normative surveys. This study was conducted to determine the Relationship
Between Frequency of Computer Usage and the Academic Performance of the Grade 12 Senior
The method led to the answers for the problems indicted. The method directed and showed
how data was collected and analyzed. It also suggested appropriate instruments that were used for
This study assessed a number of 35 Grade 12 Senior High School Students of Mariano
Marcos Memorial High School. This study will be conducted in the school year 2020-2021.
The researchers will be using convenience sampling technique for gathering data from
respondents. The convenience sampling is the selection of samples from the people who is easy to
The instrument used is survey questionnaires made by the researchers to obtain data needed
in this study. The survey consists of questions in the form of modified multiple choice using
Recognition type, and yes or no type. The questionnaires also have Completion type of questions
wherein the respondents fill up their demographic profile such as Grade and Section and their
Gender.
The researchers will gather the data through conducting a survey online using google
forms. The questionnaire will consist of nine (9) questions. The first part of the survey
Name, Gender, Age, and Strand & Section. The second part of the questionnaire will be
Recognition type where alternative responses are already provided, and the respondents simply
choose among given choices. After the respondents answered the questions, the respondents
submit the form and it automatically sent to the researchers. After the researchers collect all the
answers of the respondents the researchers collected and tallied the data for interpretation.
