SOLUTIONS INVERSE TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS WITH UNIT CIRCLE

Evaluate each trig function giving your answers in both radians and
degrees. You may use your unit circle to answer, no need to show
work.

Solve:

1. Cos ϴ = 0.6 for ϴ = 53.13° from 0 degrees to 180 degrees

2. Cos ϴ = 0.6 for ϴ = 306.87° from 270° degrees to 360 degrees
3. tan ϴ = -2 for ϴ = - 63.43° from -90° degrees to 90 degrees
4. tan ϴ = -2 for ϴ = 116.57° from 90° degrees to 180 degrees
5. sin ϴ = 0.4 for ϴ = 23.58° from -90° degrees to 90 degrees
6. sin ϴ = 0.4 for ϴ = 156.42° from 90° degrees to 270 degrees
7. Cos ϴ = -0.25 for ϴ = 104.48°/255.52°from 0° to 720 degrees
8. tan ϴ = 1.4 for ϴ = 54.46° from 0° to 720° degrees
ϴ = 54.46°, ϴ = 414.46°, ϴ = 594.46°, ϴ = 594.46°,

1. Find the reference angle for the angle shown.
ϴ = 2 x 360° - 640° = 80°
360° - 640° = 80°

2. Give a coterminal angle for the angle in #1 that is:

a. Less than 640∘ . (360° - 80° = 240°), and ( 240°+360°=600°)

b. Greater than 640∘ . ( 640°+360°=1,000°)

c. Negative. ϴ = - 80°

3. Let (6, -8) be a point on the terminal side of an angle θ in standard position.

a. Draw the angle on the axes. 𝜃 = 𝟑𝟎𝟔. 𝟖𝟕°

b. Write the sine, cosine and tangent ratios of the angle.

c. How many degrees is the angle? 𝜃 = 360 − cos−1 𝟏𝟎 = 𝟑𝟎𝟔. 𝟖𝟕°

4. Use the given circle to answer the following questions using exact values.

a. Find the exact length of arc PQ.

𝝅
PQ = r ϴ = 9 x 60° x = 3𝝅 units.
