will gradually close. If the Suction Pressure continues to decrease below the dead band setting,
Engine Speed PID will be enabled and decrease the Engine Speed gradually to maintain Suction
Pressure. When the Suction Pressure begins to rise again, the Master PID Control will cascade
back to the Recycle Valve PID in the reverse order.
When the unit is loaded, the Discharge Pressure will also be monitored. When the Discharge
Pressure increases above the Override Setting, the Master PID will switch to Discharge Pressure
Control and the Recycle Valve PID will gradually open the Recycle Valve to reduce the Discharge
Pressure to below the override setting. If the Discharge Pressure continues to rise above the dead
band setting, the Engine Speed PID will be enabled and reduce the Engine Speed to control
Discharge Pressure. When the Discharge Pressure decreases, the control will cascade back in the
reverse order, and switch back to Suction Pressure Control.
The auto/manual switch is available on control panel for operator to control engine speed manually
between the operating range set by engine. Engine speed can also be remotely adjusted from control
room. Engine speed can be manually adjusted between 800-1200rpm range.
5.0ShutdownSequence
The Series 21 Controller has the conventional Class A, B, and C shutdowns. Class A shutdowns are
always active, Class B shutdowns get activated after the unit is up and running and the Class B timer
has expired. Class C shutdowns are only active once the initial setpoint has cleared (i.e. Low Suction
Pressure-the shutdown becomes active once the suction pressure climbs above the setpoint). In the
Series 21 controller, Class C shutdowns can also have an overriding timer such that if the value does
not exceed the shutdown setpoint within a certain time it will activate the alarm or shutdown.
A shutdown at any time will force the unit back to the Shutdown State 1. Refer back to Page 9 for the
sequence of events that occur in the shutdown state. Shut down via both Process trip and Normal stop

is controlled from the unit HMI. Normal trip via OSD signal from CCR is also possible. The operator
may select normal stop option to begin shutdown sequence.
When emergency shutdown occurs, Control panel will send low RUN/STOP (0VDC). Engine
(GE-3550) will stop via emergency stop sequence.
Automatic Valve Status after Emergency Stop:
- Suction shutdown valve UZV-3550 = close
- Discharge shutdown valve UZV-3551 = close
- Suction scrubber liquid Control valve LCV-3550 = close
- Inter-stage scrubber liquid Control valve LCV-3551 = close
- Discharge scrubber liquid Control valve LCV-3552 = close
- Fuel gas Control valve FV-3556 = close (to vent)
- Blow down valve BDV-3552 = open
- Recycle valve PCV-3550 = full open
All alarm and shutdowns shall be cleared and all valves on the skid are in the ready to start position
after emergency shutdown for the next start-up.

Any time an alarm comes in, the operator can acknowledge and try to clear the alarm by pushing the
[RESET] button. This will acknowledge the alarm and if the alarm condition has passed, remove the
alarm message from the screen.
