Synopsis: Hotel Management System Using Conceptual Level Schema

This document describes a proposed hotel management system that aims to computerize manual hotel operations and reduce issues with the existing manual system. The key objectives of the system are to computerize rooms details, user details, room availability checks, and check-in/check-out processes. The proposed system would use databases, Java, and web technologies. It would allow for faster data entry and retrieval compared to the existing manual system while improving data security, reliability and reducing errors. Entity relationship and schema diagrams are provided to depict the system design.

SYNOPSIS
HOTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING CONCEPTUAL
LEVEL SCHEMA

INTRODUCTION
A Hotel Management System is a computerized management system. Hotel
Management System is concerned with maintaining the database of room details, customer
details, payment details etc. This project is a fine thought to make the complex procedure of
the Hotel management system to an easy manner. Thus, this project helps the hotel in better
management and reduces a lot of paper work as well as manpower.

OBJECTIVES
Hotel Management System has been designed to computerise the following functions
that are performed by the system. They are:
• Rooms detail functions.
• User details.
• Room assessing related to user needs.
• Room availability.
• Check in and check out details.

EXISTING SYSTEM
Hotel Management involves maintaining various operation of the hotel. The
existing system is manual one there is lot of issues like erroneous data, slow process, lack of
security etc. When any customer comes in hotel his/her record is written on paper register.
This generates lot of paper work and searching of any old record is again a difficult task. All
data is stored in the manual record so it is not possible to generate reports.
Drawbacks of the Existing System
• Manual entry consumes more time.
• Restrictions in the users.

• Difficulty in maintenance of records.

• Overall efficiency is less.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
To overcome all the above-mentioned drawbacks the new computerised system is
proposed. The proposed system replaces all the manual record keeping work with
computerised working.
Advantages of proposed system
• No data duplication.
• Time and cost efficient.
• Data security and reliability.
• Fast data insertion and retrieval.
• Easy performance check.
