1. Cite three HR activities that have been affected by the pandemic.
One of the major HR activities that have been affected by the pandemic is the way they facilitate seminars and trainings. Pre-covid, HR personnel in charge of conducting seminars and trainings and recognition programs to its employees usually holds these company-related events in venues outside of their offices and requires employees and staff to be physically present. Now, with the onset of the virus, these particular events have been disrupted of their normal activities and are now being held virtually. Another affected activity is the hiring process of a company’s HR. Just like in the government agency that I am currently employed in, instead of conducting face to face recruitment, they have opted to conduct online pre-employment examinations and interview in some regions where COVID19 cases have been growing exponentially. This affects the recruitment process as this poses some barriers that may hinder the smooth selection process. Barriers may include technical issues like internet connection. Lastly, one of the HR activities affected by the pandemic is the way work schedules are arranged. Currently, a lot of the companies both private and government implement what we call an Alternative Working Arrangement. These include work-from-home arrangements, compressed work week, and reduced workforce in the office premises. If supervised incorrectly and ineffectively, this can affect the monitoring of the attendance of the company’s employees and subsequently affect the employees’ performance and work outputs which would eventually affect the company’s performance.
2. What is your fearless forecast of the pandemic to your respective
organizations specifically to labor force? Fortunately, this pandemic hasn’t much affected the labor force in our organization in terms of the number of employees still employed. But this doesn’t mean that the pandemic hasn’t affected our human resource management. In some cases, our bosses are counting on the HR’s speed, expertise, and creativity in reshaping the workplace for resistance and recovery from the effects of this virus. With this, I think that the BIR will be able to endure the effects of the pandemic and will still be able to perform well in collecting taxes for the government.
3. Give your conclusive analysis of the material.
This analysis is a useful tool especially for people who struggle when they have to make tough decisions, including me. I used to go over big decisions by assessing the situation’s pros and cons but I didn’t know how to carefully weigh them thoroughly. Having watched and learned about the Force Field Analysis video, I understand now that I can improve my decision-making analysis by using an effective and structured technique such as this one. It will definitely improve the quality of my decisions and increase my chances of success!
