Terminal Examination Spring-2021

Q # 1. Find the result stored in AH register by performing RCL and RCR operation on following
instruction. [10]
a) RCL AH, CL
b) RCR AH, CL

Q # 2. Design a system interface of 8086 microprocessor with two 1KB RAM and two 8KBs ROM
by using 3*8 bit decoder (74LS138).

a) Write down memory maps (start, end) for each device (RAM, ROM). [10]
b) Reconstruct the schematic diagram for both devices and use separate decoder. [10]

Q #3. Assess the system reliability by carrying out test on your designed system in Q.no 2 and also
state system system’s strength and limitations. [6]

Q #4. Analyze and illustrate by constructing a machine code, how an 8086 microprocessor
interpret the following assembly language instructions. [3.5*4=14]
