One of the most considered hobbies of many people is watching movies like myself I do
love watching movies. Watching movies is not just an entertainment for others but they also
consider it as part of their life and also some who watch movies get some tips to apply in real life
situations and learn lessons from the movies that they have watched. Watching together with
friends and family members also can strengthen the relationship of the family or friends
especially if they are watching inspirational movies.
The Queen of Katwe is one of the best movies that I have ever watched that can teach a
lesson and it is very inspirational. The movie tells about the story of a young girl that lives in a
slum in Katwe. The family of the young girl have a very difficult life just like some other
families in their village and she needs to do everything just to make some money and to have a
food on their table. Fiona is the second child among them and she is trying to everything to help
her single mother in selling maize on the streets. Together with her brother Brian they sell maize
on the street when suddenly her brother left her while selling on the streets, she got curious if
where is her brother going and ditching her alone selling maize on the street. Brian went to the
ministry where he met Mr. Robert Katende who is seeking for a job as an engineer but suddenly
he was turned down even though he has a good grade and instead apply on the ministry
temporarily to help the children develop their skills through sports. When Brian went to Mr.
Katende and asks Brian if why he is not playing football Brian just replied that he might get a
broken bone just playing the sport that is why Mr. Katende offered them if they want to play
chess but also, they refused but Mr. Katende told them a story about him beating city boys with
the chess and that was the time that they got interested in the sport. On the next day when Brian
was going to meet Mr. Katende on their chess house her sister Fiona secretly followed him to see
what he is doing; out of curiosity she went to peek on the chess house where his brother went
and suddenly Mr. Katende noticed her asks her to join them and he offered her a porridge but she
did not expect that when she was going for the porridge most of the pioneers teased her because
of the smell and they called her a pig that is why she fight back with her fist and that is also the
time that Mr. Katende asks them to stop and gave Fiona a porridge. After eating the porridge Mr.
Katende asks Gloria, one of the pioneers to help Fiona in the game chess, Gloria taught Fiona but
she was very rude in teaching Fiona and teased her also about her smell. On that night when they
went home to have supper, they just gave their share of food to their mother because they already
ate porridge on the chess house. Fiona’s mother Harriet asks her to take a look on her sibling
while she is going to look for Night her older sister
The Movie was all about a young girl (Phiona) who lived in the slums of Katwe who met a man
(Mr. Robert Katwe) working for a ministry part-time while waiting for a job as an engineer. Mr.
Katwe taught Phiona the game chess together with his brother Brian and other children who are
called pioneers. Phiona easily learned the game and tried to beat all the pioneers. Mr. Katende
went to the head of the ministry trying to convince to let the “slum children” as he addressed
them to join the chess tournament, also Mr. Katende tried to convince the parents of Phiona and
Brian to let them join the tournament in exchange for the education of both of them. On the
tournament Phiona won her first official tournament beating the best person on the tournament.
Eventually she was invited to play in Sudan together with Benjamin and Ivan and got their
victory. After winning many tournaments she was invited to play in the Russian Olympiad
aiming to get a title as grand master and hoping to have a good pay to help her family. She was
considered as the youngest player in Africa to have ever played in the Olympiad, competing was
not easy for her because she was not able to attain the goal that she was
