1 Define the terms (i) Ratio Correction Factor (ii) Burden. [1] CO3 R
2 "Never open the secondary winding circuit of a current transformer while its [1] CO3 U
primary winding is energized" - Explain.
3 A basic slide wire potentiometer has a working battery voltage of 3V. The [1] CO3 Ap
resistance of slide wire is 400Ω and its length is 200cm. The slide wire has 1mm
scale divisions and it is possible to read up to 1/5 of a division. The instrument is
standardized with 1.018V standard cell with sliding contact at 101.8 cm. Calculate
(i) working current
(ii) the resistance of series rheostat
(iii) the measurement range
(iv) the resolution of instrument
4 Design a volt ratio box with a resistance of 20ohm/volts and ranges 3V, 10V, 30V, [1] CO3 Ap

range of 1.6V.
5 A volt ratio box is shown in the figure. The input voltage is 100V and output [1] CO3 An
voltage is 2V.The total input resistance (R1+R2) is 10MΩ. Determine the ratio of
the volt ratio box, R1 and R2 values.
