I. Objective:
Ia. Content Standards:
a) projectile motion, impulse and momentum, and conservation of linear momentum
Ib. Performance Standards:
a) propose ways to enhance sports related to projectile motion.
Ic. Learning Competency with code:
Main task
1. relate impulse and momentum to collision of objects (e.g., vehicular collision);
(S9FE-IVb-36)
2. infer that the total momentum before and after collision is equal; (S9FE-IVb-37)
Sub Task
a) define momentum,
b) Identify the factors that affect momentum, and
c) Solve the value of unknown variables (p, m, v).
Id. GAD Core Values:
a) shared responsibilities and
b) shared opportunities
II. Learning Content:
Unit 4: Force, Motion and Energy
Module 1: Projectile Motion: A Two Dimensional Motion
Lesson 1. Momentum
III. Instructional Materials:
A. Audio-Visual Aid: Manila Paper, Power Point Presentation
B. References:
1. Physics Textbook: reprint edition 2007 – 2009

A. Routine: ENGAGE
-The teacher asks the class to pray and then checks the attendance after.
-Students are asked to arrange their chairs properly and to pick up pieces of paper.
B. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson: ELICIT
-The teacher shows a dance video presentation about house chores.
- After the presentation, the teacher asks the students questions that will lead to the topic.
1
C. Establishing a purpose for the lesson: ENGAGE
1. What do you do when you are at the peak of your study or you’re doing something
then suddenly your parent called you?
2. What do you think would be the reason/s why you will not immediately obey your
parent?
3. What you probably felt is called as momentum, and that is our topic for today?
D. Presenting Examples/instances of new lesson: EXPLORE
-The teacher will call a student in front that is heavy and a student that is lighter and 2
volunteers that will stop them.
- Which from your heavy and lighter classmate is hard to stop?
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills: EXPLAIN
-Why do you think is the reason why he/she is hard to stop?
- What could be the mathematical formula of momentum?
F. Developing mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment): EXTEND
-Now, going back to our lesson mathematically speaking momentum is define as
p = mv
where p = momentum
m = mass
v = velocity
G. Finding Practical applications of concepts and skills: ELABORATE
-Let us have an example,
Situation 1:
A ------------------------ v = 5 m/s
B ------------------------ v = 5 m/s
- Which do you think will have greater momentum or which will in return harder to stop
from its moving state?
Situation 2:
A --------------------------- v = 2 m/s
B ---------------------------- v = 6 m/s
both have m = 15 kg
Which possess greater momentum?
What if, both the mass and velocity are different? No quantity/variable is constant in both
cases?
H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson: ELABORATE
a) What does momentum means?
Momentum is mathematically defined as the product of mass and velocity of a body
which is p = mv. Conceptually speaking momentum is the difficulty faced by a moving
body/object to undergo sudden jerk.
b) What are the factors that affect momentum?
Mass and velocity
c) What is the relationship of momentum to the mass and velocity
The mass and velocity are directly proportional to the momentum meaning whenever
one increases the other one will also increase and vice versa
I. Values Integration: EXPLORE
-The teacher asks different students of what is the importance of understanding
momentum.

J. Evaluating Learning: EVALUATIVE

-The students will be provided by an activity sheet to ponder their understanding on the
lesson and as well as evaluate.
K. Additional activities for application or remediation: EXTEND
2
A. What to do:
1. Define impulse.
2. What are the factors that affect impulse
B. Where to write: One-half sheet of paper
C. When to pass: 23 January 2019
D. Number of points: 15 points
V. Remarks:
___________________________________________________________________________
VI. Reflection:
a) No. of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment
_______________________________________________________________________
B. No. of Learners who require additional activities for remediation
_______________________________________________________________________
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson.
________________________________________________________________________
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
_______________________________________________________________________
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?
_______________________________________________________________________
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
_______________________________________________________________________
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
