I- GRAMMAR

Using the linking words below, match an element from column A with an element from column B

2- If Elisabeth refuses to marry Mr Collins, she will never see her mother again.
3- Mr Collins feels rejected when Elisabeth turns down his offer of marriage.
4- Yes, i have already rebelled against my parent’s authority. It was last year when i met a young
and beautiful girl from a different tribe. I wanted to marry her whereas my parents wanted me to
marry a girl from my own tribe. Finally, i succeeded in convincing them to accept my fiancée and
welcome her in the family.
5- Yes, i think the problem of forced marriages is still valid today. In somme areas, parents still have
the right to choose the husband / wife for their child. However in most places, children choose
their wives or husbands themselves.

A- Translate into French

« Oui, sinon je ne la reverrai plus jamais »
« Elisabeth, te voilà confrontée à un dilemme. A partir d’aujourd’hui, tu seras étrangère à l’un de
tes parents. Ta mère ne te reverra plus jamais si tu n’épouses pas M. Collins et dans le cas
contraire, c’est moi que tu ne reverras plus jamais. »

B- Translate into English

1- Our business thrives thanks to the joint efforts of shareholders.


2- The bank manager enjoined me not to take an overdraft again because my account
always has a debit balance.
3- For God’s sake, spare me the trouble of writing the same exam each year.
