I.OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learner recognizes that communicative competence requires understanding of speech
context, speech style, speech act and communicative strategy.
B. Performance Standard
The learner demonstrates effective use of communicative strategy in a variety of speech
situations.
Learning Competencies
At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:
A. Identify the types of speech acts;
B. respond appropriately and effectively to a speech act;
C. apply critical thinking through collaborative activity; and
D. develop skill in oral language.

The students will restate the types of speech acts.
J. Evaluative learning
The students will be divided into five groups. Within 15 minutes, they have to prepare a
three- to four-minute creative skit which shows at least five examples of Searle’s speech
act classifications.
