“Drop Down List Sample Sheet”
4.1. Click the “Enter a Range Formula” then drag the drop-down list “options/choices”
In a new Sheet type the items, you want to appear in your list. Select Okay then Save.

Note: You can also double check your drop-down list if it's correct by simply encoding a
different entry, which is not included in your drop-down list, if it's not included on the list
there will be a red mark seen on the right upper portion of the active cell.

1. Go to the Ribbons Tab and Click “INSERT”. Make sure you click the active cell
where you will be putting your check box.

CONDITIONAL FORMATING
1. Create your Sample Tabular Form ex: Vital Signs with data from a patient

2. Click “Format” on your Ribbon Tab and select “Conditional Formatting”

3. Click “Apply to Range” then drag/highlight the specific active cell you want to
format; Click okay once finalized.

5. Click the Inverted Triangle for more options, suitable for your template
depending on your data criteria.
Example: Respiratory Rate (RR), I prefer Greater than since it is under the
number category.

6. After choosing certain criteria, you must encode the corresponding value on
specific criteria.

Note: Repeat Number 2 up to number 6, for adding additional formula within the
same rows or columns.

Reminder:
 Make sure to check if there is an existing formula before you add, if the
previous conditional formula is not visible, it means it was deleted or not
properly done.

SPARKLINE
You can customize the Sparkline. Be on the cell containing Sparkline and then go to the
Sparkline option from the ribbon. You can choose the style and design as required. In this
case, I’m going to highlight the highest point and lowest point by checking the box next to
the high point and low point under the Show section.

1. Select “INSERT” then under the Ribbon Tab click “LINE”

DATE & TIME FORMAT
To make them more informative, you can apply custom time formatting with one of the
following codes:

Time code Explanation

h Elapsed hours, display as 4.

h:mm Elapsed hours and minutes, display as 4:10.

h:mm:ss Elapsed hours, minutes and seconds, display as 4:10:20.

To apply the custom time format, click Ctrl + 1 to open the Format Cells dialog,
select Custom from the Category list and type the time codes in the Type box. Please
see creating a custom time format in Excel for the detailed steps.
Calculating time difference with the TEXT function

Another simple technique to calculate the duration between two times in Excel is using the
TEXT function:
Calculate hours between two times: =TEXT(B2-A2, "h")
Return hours and minutes between 2 times: =TEXT(B2-A2, "h:mm")

Return hours, minutes and seconds between 2 times: =TEXT(B2-A2, "h:mm:ss")
