ACTIVITY 3:
THEMES IN CREATIVE NONFICTION
The theme of a story is its central idea. The theme is not the subject of the story. The
writer incorporates the theme into the story from the subject. Sometimes the fiction writer has
a specific theme or idea in mind before crafting a short story or novel. In analyzing Nonfiction:
Conduct Quick Research. Assign students a brief research assignment to explore new, anchor
ideas.
TECHNIQUES IN CREATIVE NON-FICTION
These are the techniques in analyzing creative non fiction. Get your facts straight. It
doesn’t matter if you’re writing your own story or someone else’s.Issue a disclaimer. It’s almost
impossible to recall a conversation word for word. Consider the repercussions. Be
objective. You don’t need to be overly objective if you’re telling your own, personal story. Pay
attention to language. Know your audience. Creative nonfiction sells, but you must have an
interested audience. When writing creative nonfiction, a clearly defined audience is essential.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
1. title of the text - MISS THRIFTY MONEY SAVING TECHNIQUES FOR YOUNG MOMS
Miss Thrifty
One of the more popular frugal blogs in the UK, Miss Thrifty is targeting young mums with her
money saving, frugal tips and articles. And rightly so! The market is massive and she’s meeting a
need for this type of information. Young mums aren’t exactly rolling in cash. They may have had
to give up work and are now relying on just one wage coming in, so the need to be more frugal
with everyday living is a must.

The great thing about this blog is the conversational tone and the real person behind the brand.
I think it’s inspiring to other mums to see someone like them making such a difference in other
people’s lives by creating amazingly useful content that is 100% actionable. Also, it may inspire
mums to set up their own blog and to write about their experiences as a mother and a wife in
the 21st century.
2, theme of the text – theme of the text is about the struggle of young moms when its comes to
money saving.
3. quotation to support the theme - young mums aren’t exactly rolling in cash.
4. technique used in the text - Provide even more value for the reader by cutting the content
down into easily digestible bites like ways and tips in saving money.
