Earth-Quake: Emergency Contact Numbers

An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip along a fault in the Earth's crust. The tectonic plates are always slowly moving but get stuck at their edges due to friction. When the stress overcomes the friction, it causes seismic waves that travel through the Earth's crust and cause shaking. Scientists can measure earthquakes using instruments called seismometers, which detect seismic waves and record them. By analyzing the seismic wave data, scientists can determine the location, time, and intensity of an earthquake.
