Mermaid Vibes Infinity Scarf
by Jennifer Orr @twowinks_

Materials
•4 Skeins DGY Lace Weight Silk Yarn
•US G/6 (4 mm) Crochet Hook (not included)
•Tapestry Needle and Scissors (not included)
•Stitch Marker (not included)

Pattern Notes
•Finishined Project Dimensions: 8 inches wide x 27 inches tall after light
blocking.
•Gauge :4 rows in pattern= 2 inches in height. Gauge is not critical for the overall
look of the scarf.
•This infinity scarf is worked flat and joined in the round at the end by slip
stitching the first and last rows together. Once joined, the border is added on by
working in the round on both the top and bottom edges of the scarf.
•Throughout the project the yarn is held double. It is easiest to complete double-
stranded projects by winding the cakes of the yarn as double stranded cakes from
the beginning. Here is how one does that: Wind the hanks of yarn into cakes or balls
as you normally would. Once you have your cake of yarn, feed the center-pull end of
yarn and the outside end of yarn together through the ball winder and wind a
second cake. You will now have a new cake of yarn where the yarn is held double
throughout. The outside strand will be a loop—you can cut this if you want but it
isn’t necessary. Say goodbye to tangled yarn and dealing with two balls at once
during your double-stranded projects!

SC: Single Crochet

Pattern
Begin:   Ch 36
Row 1: Dc in 3 rd  ch from hook, ch 2, sc in next ch * skip 2 chs. 2 dc in next ch, ch 2, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Turn.

Repeat: Repeat Row 2 until your work measures 58 inches from beginning.

Joining Work into a Loop:

Turn work as you normally would and Ch 1. With right side of work facing together, join first and last rows with a row of Sl Sts. For
me, 2 sl sts per pattern repeat was perfect. Find the number that works for you that does not pucker or leave any gaps in your
scarf. If changing color for border, fasten off.

Pattern (CONT.)
Border:
Step 1: Turn work right side out and begin working shell border in the round. You will do this for a total of two times – once for the
top and once for the bottom.
Step 2: Join Border color yarn at seam and Ch 1.

Border Row 1: Single crochet 112 stitches evenly around; or any multiple of 4 for shell border to work just make sure to do
enough SC so the border isn’t so tight that it’s distorting the scarf. And if you choose to do a number different than 112, make note
so both sides are the same. Join with Sl St to first SC.
Border Row 2: Ch 1, Sc in first st, *skip 1 st, 5 DCcin next st, skip 1 st, 1 Sc in next st; Rep from * around, Sc in turning ch, Join to
first Sc with Sl St. Fasten off. Repeat steps  on other side of scarf.

Finishing:
Weave in any loose ends! Your scarf is finished! You can lightly block if you like. I pinned my scarf to desired shape and sprayed
with room temperature water. Let dry naturally.

INSTRUCTIONS:
WARPING:
1. Using India’s Linen, wind a warp approx. 70” or 1.75 meters long of 120 ends. Warp will measure 14 1/2” across once
threaded on the heddle. Tie on in 1” seons. Spread header.

WINDING YARN:
2. You will need separate shu s for the Tibet Jewels Sari Silk Ribbon and India’s Linen yarn.
3. Using a sk or rag shufor the silk ribbon take care not to twist too much while loading the shule. Load only
enough as to allow the shto pass through the shed easily. Sari Silk
Ribbon is great to use as weas the ends are easily and invisibly tucked
together with minimal overlap when joins are needed.

WEAVING:
4. Leaving a 3’ tail, weave 1/2” (approx. 6 rows) in India’s Linen. The tail
will be used to hems h the edge into 15 groups of 8 threads once you
have woven at least 1” or before advancing warp.
5. Weave 19” Tibet Jewels Sari Silk Yarn. Take care when folding the silk
ribbon over at edges and avoid twing the ribbon in the we. Beat
each row well with the heddle.
6. Weave 1/2” (6 Rows) linen. Hemtch into 15 groups of 8 threads.
7. Advance warp warp to create about 6” of space before stag sec-
ond placement. Spread a small header if needed and repeat above for
second placemat.

FINISHING:
8. Cut from loom, soak in lukewarm water with mild soap and rinse in
cool water.
9. Reshape and lay at to dry.
10. Trim any loose threads and cut fringe to 2” or desired length

may choose to cut the additional felt balls off the tassel. Attach the tassel to the bottom point of the wall hanging.
Hanging Hook: Create a hanging hook by tying a length of string to the ends of the hanging bar.

Round 1: Make a slip knot. Ch 30.
Round 2: Turn and dc into the 3rd ch from your hook. Dc in each ch across. <28>
Round 3: Turn your work, ch 2 (remember this will count as your first st), now you will dc in the BLO. Dc in BLO across.

For size XS/S:

Rounds 4-23 [20 rounds]: repeat the same process as step 3. When one skein is used up, attach the 2nd skein with a knot and
continue your work. Fasten off  and leave a very long tail for sewing. You should have a large rectangle.

For size M/L:

Rounds 4-25 [22 rounds]: repeat the same process as step 3. When one skein is used up, attach the 2nd skein with a knot and
continue your work. Fasten off  and leave a very long tail for sewing. You should have a large rectangle.

Assembly: Fold your work “hamburger style”, making the shorter ends touch. With the long yarn tail, use your crochet hook to
weave in and out of the stitches. This will sew the two short ends together to create a cylinder. Do not fasten off the tail before
closing the top. Weave the strand all around the edge of the hole. Once you’ve returned to your original spot, pull tightly to
scrunch the hole and close it shut. Fasten off and weave in ends. Turn your hat inside out and it’s ready to wear!

Pom-Pom: (optional) Cut multiple 5-inch strands of yarn (the more strands, the denser the pom-pom will be). Take a separate
long strand of yarn and tie the bundle together, knotting tightly. Using these two ends of the long strand, tie the pom-pom
into the top of the hat and weave in ends. Fluff and trim the pom-pom as needed. Enjoy!

UV STRIPES T-SHIRT SCARF
By: Mary Ballard

PROJECT DETAILS PROJECT NOTES:

Skill Level: Intermediate LOOM + HEDDLE REQUIREMENTS (not included)
• Rigid hedge loom with at least 15” weaving width
Finished Dimensions: 54” x 11.5” plus fringe
• One 5 dent heddle
• ck shule
MATERIALS: • Tapestry needle
WARP YARN
WEAVE STRUCTURE: Plain weave
• 2 Skeins of Darn Good Yarn Cq
on T -Shirt Yarn
(Pantone Ultra Violet) WARP LENGTH: 80” including loom waste
• 2 Skeins of Darn Good Yarn Cqon T -Shirt Yarn WARP ENDS: 76
(Mermaid Swirl) EPI: 5 ends per inch
WEFT YARN PPI: 8 picks per inch
• 1 Skein of Darn Good Yarn Sport Weight Linen 2 Ply
Yarn (Peacock Turquoise)

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Wind a warp 80” long with a total of 76 ends of alternag colors following the threading order below. You will
have 38 ends of each color. For direct warping, alternate threading slots with Ultra Violet and Mermaid Swirl while
warping. When threading the heddle, shithreads so all heddle holes are threaded with Mermaid Swirl and slots
are threaded Ultra Violet or vice versa. Take care not to twist warp threads.
• Tie warp on front rod in groups of 4 ends taking care t nd even tension. Spread header with a few strips of
scrap yarn.
• Warp will measure 14.5” across.

WARP THREADING ORDER: (see right)

Repeat across heddle for 76 ends.

WEAVING
• Wind about half of Peacock Turquoise Linen ont ck shule. This should give you enough wq to complete
the scarf without joining threads.
• Leaving about a 36” tail for hemsqching, weave for an inch or two. Thread the tail onto the tapestry needle and
hemtch warp ends in groups of two.
• As you advance the warp, you will come upon knots in the T-shirt yarn. With the wider dent and squishy nature
of the yarn, they should glide through the heddle. If any do get stuck, a gentle tug will help them pass through the
heddle. If any happen to come undone simply place the heddle in neutral p on, pull the broken warp threads
together gently (they stretch!) and re-n a sturdy knot at a similar tension. Once you begin weaving again, take
care to weave any T-shirt yarn ends in as you throw the wq to help them blend into the warp.
• Connue weaving for approximately 64” or un arp ends. Hemsq ch in groups of 2, weave in end and cut from
loom.

FINISHING
• Machine wash on a gentle cool water cycle with a bit of soap. Reshape and laym
at to dry.
• Weave in and trim any ends.
• Trim fringe to 5” or desired length.
