What is a Monkey Jam?

Monkey Jam is a computer program used to produce cartoons, which includes


some useful tools for the technique of stop-motion animation.

MonkeyJam is free software that takes images from a video input or from a
camera and saved on your computer. It is a catch-frame (frame grabber).
MonkeyJam to use you have to have: - A digital video camera via FireWire or a
digital still camera via USB or analog camera (the roll of film) and a scanner for
pictures scan and another option is a webcam via USB

Lets work
To start
The first thing we have to do is to define the idea, what we have? Try that
history is not complicated, think of one or two characters, a decorated (a street,
a room, etc.) With that idea we turn to write the script for our short film
describing the actions that will make the characters in each the scenes.
Now, we will work in a very simple script; we write a word on the screen with the
items that suit. Choose the word you want to be written.

To make our video, the next step is to perform the short storyboard, known as
"Story Board". This is a sequence of images drawn in his dialogues, is similar
to any cartoon.

The Story board can calculate:

 The estimated time-history and


 The amount of pictures that we take into account to be needed.

We must to take into account that to give a sense of movement, we need 24


frames per second. Not required to remove both images, with 12 or 15 frames
per second we can achieve a good short. After having the idea, write a word on
the screen, we make the story of what we imagine. For that, use the form
storyboard model.

Second part

Take pictures

Once you have the idea and the story board is defined, then you should start
working on taking the pictures. You should take into account the lighting, angles
and planes when take the pictures. It is also important to know that should be
handled with a tripod for the camera or, failing that, somewhere must support to
enable them to leave as much fixed as possible. If you move it, when the
pictures are together to assemble the film, is very visible error.

Third part

Upload pictures to the PC

Now, after taking the photos, they should upload to the computer. A good way
to organize your images is to go on the computer by creating folders numbered
scene in case any, so that when we have to make it easy to locate production.
And those numbered folders, group them in another folder In our case, we will
upload the images to a folder called "Word" in My Documents.
