Project Duration:
February 2019 – March 2019
Site of Implementation: Tanza, Cavite
1.2. Significance The use of wind energy system that can harness wind energy
on highways is of critical and great help in providing an
alternative to usage of conventional energy sources. Moreover,
the developed wind energy conversion system for electricity
B. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
generation can be used by the different members of the society.
Local Government Units. The project will help in
achieving the sustainable development goal of the government
which is to provide clean and renewable energy and as laid down
under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.
Power Stations. This proposes an idea that will reduce the
costly transport cost of electricity from far-away stations and
large power losses as it can be erected almost in every highway
with vehicles passing in it making the electricity generated be
easily used by the consumers.
1.3. Time and Place of The operation of the device was assessed through placing it on
the Study simulation of operation in Cavite State University – Cavite
College of Arts and Trades Campus, Rosario, Cavite.
1.4. Scope and The study focused only on the development and
Limitations designing of a wind energy harvesting system which gathers
energy from passing vehicles on highways to provide alternative
to conventional energy sources. This study only evaluate the
technical performance of the system in terms of output voltage
with respect to the change in wind pressure produced by passing
vehicles; power output; time required to charge a battery; and its
conversion efficiency. The device will be tested to light up a
single lighting to provide light to the road ways at night time
2. Expected Output This project will come up to a prototype of a wind power generation
system that harness energy from moving vehicles on highways that is to
be ideally implemented to highways of Cavite.
3. Expected The major parts of the wind energy conversion system are
Outcomes turbines, generator, inverters and the charge controller. The
system is placed along the highways. Once the presence of wind
pressure started the rotation of the propeller, there will be
generation of the mechanical to electrical output of energy. The
output will be used to charge the battery that will energized the
streetlight as indicator.
