Front page
The screen depicted in Fig. 1.1 is the front page of assignment management. The
page provides links to essay management, online worksheets, online tests and
rubrics. New essays, worksheets and tests can be created and existing ones can be
viewed, edited or deleted from within assignment management.

A new assignment can be created by clicking on the add icon to the right of the
heading indicated by arrow one in Fig. 1.1. The form in Fig. 1.2 will be displayed. The
fields should be filled in as follows:
1. 13. Assignment Name: The name of the assignment e.g. Anatomy of the
Upper Limb
3. 15. Allow Multiple Submissions: This determines whether the student can
submit an assignment more than once before the closing date.
5. 17. Closing Date: The date on which the assignment is due, after which no
more assignments can be submitted. The data can be selected using a
calendar. Click on the calendar icon indicated by arrow 1 in Fig. 1.2. Fill in the
time in the space indicated by arrow 2. The month can be changed by clicking
on the icon indicated by arrow 3. Click on the appropriate day, the calendar
will close and insert the selected date into the input box.
Click the Save button to save the assignment and return to the front page. Click the
Exit button to return to the front page without saving the assignment.

1. 1. Clicking on the Select a Date icon brings up the calendar shown in the
upper left corner of the window.
Select the closing date. This closes the window and inserts the selected date and
time into the input field for the closing date.
Searching assignments
A particular assignment can be found using the search feature indicated by arrow 3
in Fig. 1.1. All formative assessment assignments are searched. Click on a letter of
the alphabet to display a list of assignments where the name begins with the
selected letter. Click on list all to display all the formative assessment assignments.
To search within a section, type a letter, word or portion of a word into the input
box. Click on the radio button of the appropriate section – essays, tests, worksheets
or assignments. Click on Search. The results are displayed in the table. Arrow 4
indicates the result of a search for the word ‘sus’ in assignments.
To view an assignment, click on the name of the assignment. The details of the
assignment will be displayed along with the description. Click on Exit to return to the
front page.
To edit an assignment, click on the edit icon for the assignment on the right. Arrow 4
in Fig. 1.1 is pointing at the delete icon next to the edit icon. The form for adding an
assignment (Fig. 1.2) will be displayed with the assignment details filled in. Edit the
details and click on the Save button to save the modifications and return to the front
page. Click the Exit button to discard the modifications and return to the front page.
To delete an assignment, click on the Delete icon for the assignment on the right.
Confirm the delete and the assignment will be deleted.
A list of students and their submitted assignments can be viewed by clicking on the
Mark assignments icon that appears next to the Edit and Delete icons for an
assignment after the closing date. The page shown in Fig 1.3 will open. The name of
the assignment is at the top of the page. A list of students is displayed with the date
on which they submitted their assignment and the mark given once it has been
marked. Click on the Mark icon to mark an online assignment. The page in Fig 1.4
will open. The mark is entered in the mark box and a comment on the assignment in
the comment box. Click Save to save the mark and return to the list of students.
