EXAMPLE OF INSERTING CHART WITH
DATA…
 Less is more. Fill in with narration not words.
 Use animation carefully.
 Use color to emphasize some points but limit to 2 or 3.
 Be consistent! In the choice and use of color font size/type
etc.
 Use Slide real estate appropriately.
 Use Examples
 To motivate the works
Illustrate the basic problems
 Show Solution in action
 Highlight extreme cases or shortcomings.
Related Work:-
For a researcher following point should be remember
while preparing the presentation.

 Should be Familiar With all related work

 Shouldn’t list each paper which read
 Should mainly talk about results that are immediately
related to what we did.
 References at the end of the talk or better in the paper
itself
 Acknowledge Co-authors in title slide.
A fine line
 Should be present only specific aspect that shows the
“meat” of our work
 Should be leave rest out. If we were conviencing
them, they will read our paper.
 Don’t fill up the slides with lots of equations.
 Prepare a Back-up slides to answer questions. Leave
them at the end of the presentation.
Slide Layout -Bad

 This Page Contains too many words for a presentation slide.

It is not written in point form, making it difficult both for the
audience to read and for us to present each point. Although
there are exactly the same number of points on this slide as
the previous slide, it looks much more complicated. In
short, our audience will spend too much time trying to read
this paragraph instead of listening to us. How much we try to
write contents in single slide it will more difficult or
confusing to understand the matter or content written on
slide.
Slide Layout – Good and Fair!

 Show one point at a time:

o will help audience concentrate on what we are saying.
o will prevent audience from reading ahead
o will help keep the presentation focused by audience
o Point should keep simple and understandable for
audience.
o word selection should simple for that unnecessary
questions will not be arise.
 if we use small font, the audience won’t be able to read what we have written.

 If we use very large font, it will also

unfair to present the matter.
CAPITALIAZE ONLY WHEN NECESSARY, IT IS DIFFICULT
TO READ TO AUDIENCE.
 Shouldn’t use complicated and cursive and thin font.
Fonts – Good and fair!
 Use a decent font size
 Use different size fonts for main points and secondary
points
o this font is 24- point, the main point font is 28-
point, and the title font is 44- point

 Use a standard font like Times New Roman or Arial.

Color – Bad
 Using a font color that does not contrast with the
background color is hard to read

 Using color for decorating is distracting and annoying.

 Using a different color for each point is unnecessary.

 same for secondary point.

 Trying to be creative can also be bad.

Color – Good and Fair!
 Use font color that contracts sharply with the
background.
o Blue or black Font on the white background.

 Use color to reinforce the logic of your structure.

 Ex: Light blue title and dark blue text.

 Use color to emphasize a point

 but only use this occasionally
Background– Bad!

 Avoid backgrounds that are distracting or difficult

to read from.

 Always be consistent with the background that we

use.
Background- Good and Appropriate!

 Use backgrounds such as this one that are attractive but simple.

 Use backgrounds which are light.

 Use the same background consistently throughout your

presentation.

 Category of slides can be defined with background appearance.
