MZ Alternate Path Multizone Packer: Applications
MZ Alternate Path Multizone Packer: Applications
Multizone Packer
Applications Alternate Path multizone (MZ) packers
■ Cased-hole, multiple-zone add versatility to the Schlumberger
completions gravel-pack system. This is a cup-type
packer with Alternate Path AllPAC®
■ Gravel-pack or frac-pack or AllFRAC® shunt tubes extending
operations through it. The MZ packer can be used
■ Interval isolation as a part of the AllPAC or AllFRAC
■ Water-encroachment control screen assembly to provide isolation
between closely spaced reservoir inter-
vals and to slow water encroachment.
Benefits The MZ packer can also be used to
■ Facilitates washover and retrieval perform more effective STIMPAC
operations gravel-pack service treatments over
■ Reduces completion costs longer producing intervals. This oper-
ation allows each zone to be treated
■ Simplifies stimulation treatments separately. Multiple intervals can be
■ Enhances interval treatment treated with a single gravel-pack
■ Promotes reservoir productivity packer, in one trip, and with one pump-
ing operation, resulting in significant
cost and rig-time savings.
Features The MZ packer features no moving
■ Single-trip, continuous pumping parts, offers a choice of full-tubing ID
sizes for water-isolation applications,
■ One-time mobilization of pumping
and is available with sealbore IDs suit-
equipment for multiple zones
able for selective-production comple-
■ No moving parts tions. This packer can be equipped
■ In conformance with NACE with a variety of accessories depend-
standard MR0175 ing on the completion requirements.
It can be run with landing nipples or
seating nipples to isolate zones. Shear
joints can ease retrieval in difficult
wellbores.
The MZ packer is available in
eccentric or concentric configurations
to match Alternate Path screens. This
packer is manufactured from materi-
als that comply with NACE standard
MR0175 for sulfide stress cracking
resistant metallic materials.
