Professional Development Implementation Plan

1. The document outlines a professional development implementation plan focused on strengthening teachers' lesson plans using the Triple E Framework. The plan aims to evaluate if lessons meet the standards of engagement, enhancement, and extension. 2. Over the 2021-2022 school year, teachers will attend presentations on the Triple E Framework and work in groups to evaluate sample lessons. They will then work to improve one of their own lessons per month. 3. Progress and achievement of the goal will be measured by teachers demonstrating all aspects of the Triple E Framework in a lesson they create and teach at the end of the year.

Running Record: Implementation Plan
1. Area of Focus: Strengthening Lesson Plans

Why: Long gone are the days when teachers intentionally write lessons that are engaging and

meet the needs of students. While in their teacher preparation programs, these skills are

mandated and respected. Educators could not graduate and matriculate through the program

with honing in on these skills. After leaving the program, many educators simplify the

responsibility of lesson plan writing to a digital format that includes just writing the page

numbers or activities. Everything else is in their head on how they will execute their lessons.

Then there are the educators who year after year refuse to change because they have the

mantra of “Why reinvent the wheel” if it works. Yes, it might work and it may certainly get the

job of educating the students complete if education were a check in the box system. However,

the thing to consider is whether or not the lesson was meaningful. My goal is to encourage the

educators at my school ofl the importance of removing the barriers in how we plan lessons. The

one size fits all approach was never beneficial when educating students with multiple learning

styles. I will create a Prezi slideshow demonstrating the three E’s of the Triple E Framework, and

teach my colleagues how to use the rubric to evaluate their lessons.

Standards: During this professional development we will address the Common Core State

Standards as relates to the learning objectives of the lesson. In addition, we will look at the ISTE

Standard. The following standard will be addressed:

Running Record: Implementation Plan

Learner: (1a) “Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches

made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness.”

Leader: (2a) “Shape, advance and accelerate a shared vision for empowered learning with

technology by engaging with education stakeholders.”

(2c) “Model for colleagues the identification, exploration, evaluation, curation, and

adoption of new digital resources and tools for learning.”

Citizen: (3b) “Establish a learning culture that promotes curiosity and critical examination of

online resources and fosters digital literacy and media fluency.”

Collaborator: (4a) “Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic

learning experiences that leverage technology.”

(4c) “Use collaborative tools to expand students' authentic, real-world learning

experiences by engaging virtually with experts, teams, and students, locally and

globally.”

Designer: (5a) “Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster

independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.”

(5b) “Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use

digital tools and resources to maximize active deep learning.”

(5c) “Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital

learning environments that engage and support learning.”

Facilitator: (6b) “Manage the use of technology and student learning strategies in digital

platforms, virtual environments, hands-on makerspaces or in the field”

Analysts: (7a) “Provide alternative ways for students to demonstrate competency and reflect on

their learning using technology.”

2. Specific Goals: Teachers will begin to evaluate the way they use technology to educate

their students. The goal is to determine if their lessons are meeting the 3 E’s of the Triple

E Framework. Once each educator has determined their areas of improvement, they

will meet in monthly groups to discuss ideas and ways they can implement engagement,

enhancement, or extension in their lessons.

3. Timeline: We will use the 2021-2022 school year to implement this action plan.

4. Action Plan:

1. Create a share Prezi presentation teaching about the Triple E Framework.

2. Model an example of a lesson I evaluated to demonstrate how the rubric

works.

3. Have teachers work in a whole group and engage in discussion about a

variety of lesson plans embedded in the Prezi Presentation. Teachers will

work in small groups to discuss if all the elements of the Triple E are present

in the lessons. If any of the concepts are missing, they will discuss ways the

educator could improve the task.

4. Extension to the above activity: Teachers can bring a copy of a lesson to the

Professional Development. Then they will work in teams to discuss ways to

improve engagement, enhancement, and extension in the lessons.

5. At the end of the Professional Development, the principal and I will discuss

possible pairings that would benefit in helping the teachers to improve in

their weakest area. Teachers will submit one lesson a month where they are

taught a concept and then reevaluated their lesson to improve an area of the

Triple E.

6. Each teacher will leave with the infographic from the Prezi lesson to put in

their classroom as a reminder of the Triple E Framework.

5. Method for Measuring the achievement of the school’s goal: At the end of the

2021-2022 school year, each teacher will take a turn leading the staff through a lesson

they create at their grade level for their students. The goal is to have each component of

the Triple E Frameworks present in their lesson. In addition, their final observation of the

school year will have components of the Triple E embedded within the lesson. Two

teachers will be present for their observation to evaluate the lesson. They are required

to evaluate with a rubric and submit it to the principal.
