Topic: Write an essay (250 words) about the following topic


Some people say that success is '10 percent talent and 90 percent hard work'. Is
it hard work the key to success, or is talent also important? Give reason to your
answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or
experience.

There are many people want to be successful in the world. They always show their
talent in the public. Many people's opinions show that people reckon that talent is
the main key to success, but in my opinion hard-working is the main key to
success. My opinion is if you have talent, but you do not work hard you can not
show your real talent to the world, so I agree that 'success is 10 percent talent and
90 percent hard work'.

Firstly, success requires persistence as well as discipline, and both are all qualities
of working hard. This is because where one is gifted with a particular talent, one
cannot achieve anything without nurturing and training such gifts. In other words,
our inherent qualities just as gold, is only a raw material that must go through the
refurbishment process so as to result to a shining gem. This improvement of our
inborn qualities can only be done through hard work as talent is never enough.

Secondly, "diligence in place of intelligence". Maybe you could not do something


in the first time because you are not skillful enough.  However, if you practice time
and time again, you will be good at it yourself. If failure at the first attempt
discourages you, you will not have enough motivation to perform the next time.
Everything like studying, working,  playing sports or musicial instruments, all the
trainings lead to the success. For examples, a high-school student cannot
distinguish between tenses in English, but when she does lots of exercises, reads
English books or watches many English teaching video on the internet, she will be
proficient in using them.

In conclusion,  to become successful , there should be skills acquired through


education and also  the incorporation of  expertise and industrious attitude.
Therefore, it is clear that learning a skill is also a way to accomplish sucess, as well
as talent and hard work.
