Water rationing scheduling application

1.1 Introduction
Our water rationing system targets the local City councils such as Bulawayo. The project is
incredibly useful to each Bulawayo council employee and the overall public. As water shortage
cases in several cities are unceasingly rising there is a need to ration water by zones therefore on
share the obtainable water equally. The water ration programming project provides the overall
public a visible screen that shows once water will be distributed, what time water valves are
going to be opened, the stage of water allotment, and conjointly however the length of a problem
is predicted to last and co-jointly shows restrictions behind water usage. As for the system being
designed will detect a pipe burst by use of sent notifications from customers. The system is
useful because it provides modules to capture the client's information and also capture and
charge units incurred by the customer per month and rations water as per units used and by
therefore doing they will improve water service delivery to the general public. In conclusion,
there is information management, all customer's information is captured in my SQL database.
The administrators can add new users to the system and assign security measures and the way the
user interacts with the system.

1.2 Problem Statement

Bulawayo is epitomized by the scarcity of water since it is located in region 4 which has fewer
rainfalls thus having dwindled water levels in the dams. To add on the poor quality of water
being supplied to the consumers is being encountered. These problems are quickened by the
increment in the population density, the mud and sewage have contaminated the potable water
through leakages linked to water pipe bursts Bulawayo continues to lose water due to pipe
bursts and leaks owing to ageing reticulation infrastructure. The problems having a drastic
increase in the population density, water contamination. The city has been experiencing power
outages from the time a fire broke out at the Hwange Power Station recently which has
drastically made it difficult to pump water to the consumers.
1.3 Aim
The water rationing scheduling application aims to distribute potable water evenly among
Bulawayo residents. arrange
1.4 Objectives
 To schedule equal days to fetch water for residents.
 To share water equally among Bulawayo residents.
 To provide residents with treated water
 To build better and safer water sources
 To improve dilapidated water supply and treatment infrastructure.
 To replace the old water pipes to counter leakages
 Improve power blackouts.
1.5 Hypothesis used

Qustionnaires and Interview

 Hardware Requirements
A laptop for designing and testing
CD ROM
 RAM 2GB
Processor Speed 1.60(GHz)
Local Area Network connection.
 Software Requirements
 Operating System(Windows 8 or 10,64 bit)
 Web browser (Chrome, Fire-fox)
 Microsoft Office
Development tools
are programs that allow the user to create a software
 Visual Studio is an IDE from Microsoft. It is used to develop computer programs as well as
websites, web applications, web services, and mobile applications.
 Visual Basic is a computer programming language developed and owned by Microsoft. With
VB one can create custom forms, graphs, and reports.

1.6 Justification
Merits of the proposed system
 Supplying potable water to Bulawayo residents
 Avert contaminated diseases to Bulawayo residents regarding dirty water.
 Sufficient supply of water to Bulawayo households.
Demerits of the proposed system
 It needs participation from the households to manage the scarce resources
 It's costly to employ proficient workers and water treatment chemicals.
Evaluation of the proposed system
There are 2 possible solutions recommended by the analyst which are as follows:
 designing a system from scratch.
Customized software

Customized Software
A software application designed for a specific user or user group within an organization. This
type of software is designed to better meet the needs of these users than more traditional and
widespread commercial software. Customized software is usually only created by third parties or
internal developer groups for these specific users, and is not packaged for resale.
1.7 Conclusion
In a nutshell, the water rationing schedule will be assigned with the aid of Visual Basic. The aim
is to distribute potable water equally among Bulawayo residents. The first Chapter has alluded to
the objectives that are targeted by the effectuation of the new system. The analyst was able to
pinpoint some problems of the current system in use and how severely it affecting Bulawayo
residents. Resolution to those challenges have been chosen
