Music is a reflection of who they are. Behind the beauty of music that we are listen to, are the
“composers”. A composer is a person who creates music, either by musical notation or oral tradition, for
interpretation and performance or through direct manipulation of music material through electronic media.
In Philippine setting, there are known Filipino composers who made a great contribution in music industry.

1. What do you think are the reasons why Filipino artist / OPM Band become popular?
Because of their music quality and how the lyrics of the songs hits the hearts of the listeners of the music..

2. What do you think are the possible reasons why performers / artists are more remarkable or famous
over composers?
Because the performers/ artists are the once who sings and performs in front of many people than the
composers and the way they sing the song makes them remarkable and famous.

3.On your own perspective what makes the song appealing to you? Is it the artist who performed the song?
The musicality? or the lyrics of the song?
For me it is rhe musicality and lyrics of the song ofcourse it is still depends on the performer to perform the
music carefully if he can’t the song will be ruined ..

From our activity, it is easy for us to remember the title of the song, the artist who performed the song, the
music and the lyrics of the music, but most of the time we forget to acknowledge the composer who writes the
lyrics and create the melody of the song. On this lesson, we will give emphasis to the life and works of Filipino
composers who made a great contribution in Philippine Music industry.

Philippine Contemporary Music

Also known as “new music“refers to compositions that adopted ideas and elements from the 20th century art
music of the West including the musical styles and latest trends in the entertainment industry.

Is a known Composer,Conductor,and a Music teacher. He studied at

University of the Philippines College of Music with double major in both
Composition and Conducting.
