Enabling Outcomes:
Based on the curriculum guide (CG), the student must have completely submitted worksheets
on the different activities in:
 Compare and contrast the nuances of varied online platforms, sites and content to best
address situational challenges.
 .Apply online safety, security, ethics and etiquette standards and practices in the use of
ICT’s.
 Use the Internet as a tool for credible research and information gathering.

Concepts

The term ICT short for Information Communication Technology, refers to the
various technologies, tools and devices that are used to gather, create, edit
and store information that are communicated or exchanged with others by
means of electronics.

ICT includes technologies such as computers (not limited to desktop, laptop,


netbooks, or notebooks), radio, television, video, DVDs, telephone (both
fixed line and mobile phones), personal digital assistant (PDAs) satellite
systems, network hardware and software, and the equipment and services
associated with these technology, such as video conferencing, email,
instant messaging and blogs.

The birth of the internet has transformed the computer and communication
world like nothing before.

The internet composed of millions of small computer networks all brought


together to form the vast “Inter-Network.

Uses of the Internet

Communication- Internet opens up many different possible ways to


communicate with others.

Shopping- Nowadays, whether you want to buy, you can pretty much
guarantee that you can find it for sale somewhere on the internet.
Leisure and Entertainment- Like playing games, listening to music, reading
online books and etc.

Exploring the World- Internet age open up the doors and the windows to the
world. Getting to the place is as easy as a click of a button through booking
online.

Benefits of the Internet-

The internet is always available- People can access the internet 24/7.
The internet offers a vast range of information- All sorts of information can
be found on the internet.
The internet serves as a means to communicate with people- Internet
provides many ways to let you to keep in contact with people anytime and
anywhere.
The internet offers a wide access to learn about others cultures- You can
learn anything about anybody on the web.
Information of the internet is readily updated- News articles, even videos,
can be uploaded as it happens.

The internet is a network of networks. It connects private, public , academic, business


and government networks all over the world through a wide range of networking and
communication.
