BUHOS: A Climate Change Documentary

Problem

The planet we live on now is unlike any other planet in the cosmos. Our planet is capable of
supporting our lives and human beings. Because we rely so heavily on its natural resources, we must
learn how to protect them. Global warming and climate change are two of the world's most urgent
challenges today and as stated in the documentary clip. The term "global warming" refers to the heating
of the earth caused by holes in the ozone layer. The ozone layer shields our world from the sun's deadly
UV radiation. This phenomenon causes our world to warm, and this phenomena is known as global
warming, which leads to climate change. There are numerous man-made ways for holes in the ozone
layer to form, all of which are hazardous to humans and our entire world. Greenhouse gases entered the
atmosphere in a variety of ways, many of which were caused by humans. Fumes created by factories,
smoke spewed by automobiles and factories, and other examples of fossil fuel combustion are all
contributors to global warming and climate change. Climate change refers to changes in the earth's
environmental circumstances. This is due to a variety of internal and environmental variables. Climate
change has become a worldwide issue in recent decades. Furthermore, these climatic variations have a
variety of effects on life on Earth. Climate change is having a variety of effects on the ecosystem and
ecology. These climate changes are harmful to the environment. The ocean level is rising, glaciers are
melting, CO2 levels in the atmosphere are growing, forests and wildlife are diminishing, and water life is
being disrupted as a result of climate change. Aside from that, it is estimated that if this trend continues,
many species of plants and animals will become extinct.

Source of the Problem

Global warming and climate change are caused by a variety of factors. The greenhouse effect is
the fundamental cause of global warming and climate change. The greenhouse effect is the entrapment
of heat by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and others between the Ozone layer
and the Earth's surface, causing more and more heat to be trapped as it remains imprisoned. In addition
to that, because of human’s need and greed, many had engaged in several behaviors that have harmed
not just the environment but also himself. Many plant and animal species become extinct as a result of
human activity. Deforestation, the use of fossil fuels, industrial waste, other types of pollution, and
other human activities all contribute to climate change. All of these factors have a significant negative
impact on the climate and biosphere. Furthermore, many people's rubbish has a significant impact on
climate change. The rubbish we see on the beach, on the side of the road, and in other places has had a
significant impact on climate change. As it does, sunlight and heat force the plastic to emit potent
greenhouse gases, resulting in a dangerous feedback loop. As our temperature changes, the globe
becomes hotter, and the plastic degrades into more methane and ethylene, speeding up climate change
and repeating the cycle. Plastic leaves a devastating legacy in our oceans, which serve as the largest
natural carbon sink for global gases. It immediately chokes and suffocates a variety of marine animals
and environments, and it can take hundreds of years to degrade.
Solution

It is critical to become aware of global warming and climate change and to educate others about
it. We must do everything possible to prevent it from spreading. If we do nothing and things continue as
they are, people will become extinct from the earth's surface in the not-too-distant future. But if,
instead of ignoring these issues, we begin to address them, we will be able to save the planet and our
future.

To mitigate global warming, we must first halt deforestation and increase afforestation. The first
step in cooling Earth is to plant trees in many tropical rain forests around the world while also
maintaining the current tropical rain forests. This is the most cost-effective strategy to avert global
warming and must be addressed promptly. Controlling the discharge of dangerous gases and reducing
the use of coal and petroleum will have a big impact on global warming. Instead of petroleum, we could
use environmentally friendly alternatives such as compressed natural gas (CNG). To reduce the supply of
the more hazardous gases that contribute to global warming, industrial coal emissions should be
reduced or eliminated. Electricity is one of the leading sources of greenhouse gas emissions, which
contribute considerably to global warming. Lowering electricity consumption in our homes can also be
accomplished by regulating the thermostat, enhancing insulation, and enhancing airtightness. The
development and deployment of new low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies will result in lower
world emissions. Existing research on battery technology and methods of harvesting energy from natural
sources such as bacteria and algae could have a significant influence. Renewable energy sources such as
bioenergy, wind, solar, and geothermal energy, which are all around us, have the potential to supply the
growing demand for energy while also protecting the environment. In addition to that, here are some
was on how to solve climate change are first, transforming our principal sources of energy to clean,
renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass could be an answer. Another
one was that our transportation methods must be environmentally friendly and have a low carbon
footprint. It is critical to rethink our transportation techniques from the design stage in order to achieve
eco-friendly mobility. Third, the most fundamental way to reduce waste is to match our manufacturing
practices to our consumption patterns. Our consumption patterns must also account for the recycling
process. Use the circular economy's three Rs (Minimize, Reuse, and Recycle) to dramatically reduce
waste and eliminate the wasteful manufacturing of new things. Lastly, Oceans and seas store the most
greenhouse gases and provide an extraordinary support system for life on Earth. It is now critical to limit
overfishing, unsustainable coastal development activities, and consumption of environmentally friendly
items.

Despite the fact, that people have caused significant damage to the climate and biosphere. But
it is not too late to start over and try to undo the damage we have done to the environment up to this
point. And if every human begins to contribute to the environment, we can be certain of our survival in
the future.

Kiribati: A drowning paradise in the South Pacific

Problem

The problems i saw in this commentary were Land issues because Kiribati, an island nation
in the South Pacific, faces extinction as a result of climate change and rising sea levels. And
according to UN they predict that Kiribati could disappear in just 30 or 40 years. The other
problem here are hey have poor home environments

Low household income and limited economic opportunities were the primary reasons
why most communities struggled to meet basic needs such as food, school fees, transportation,
and utilities. Poor education as a result of dropping out or not being admitted to secondary
school was cited as a major factor, as were the limited job opportunities available on the outer
islands

Source of the Problem

from what I noticed in this documentary, the impact of each country's movement on the
aggravation of climate change is huge.

Poor home environments are caused by many ongoing changes affecting Kiribati society,
such as expanding households and communities, which are exacerbated by poor family
planning and the arrival of relatives from outer islands

Solutions

Community members do not face difficult times and crises alone, but rely on various
institutions for assistance. These institutions and their existing ties to the community can serve
as the foundation for building a stronger community capacity to deal with adversity.

There is a need for a training center for technical and traditional skills in order to improve life
skills and the ability to earn a living. Skills required for them to actively participate in future
development initiatives included:

Golden Gamble. Gold mining in the Philippines, a dirty

business
Problem

The town of Paracale in the Philippines has been dubbed "Goldtown" due to its abundant
gold deposits. Despite government efforts to regulate mining, illegal pits continue to exist.
Workers are exposed to toxic mercury fumes and lack even the most basic health and safety
precautions. Skin diseases are caused by contaminated water, and they are constantly
threatened with being buried alive. Workers continue to take these risks on a daily basis
because they have no other source of income. Many of the gold miners are children whose
families cannot afford to send them to school.it is also noticeable in this outline that the place is
far and secluded.

Source of the Problem

The Philippines' government has done far too little to protect children from the dangers
of child labor in small-scale gold mining. Although the government has ratified treaties and
passed laws to combat the worst forms of child labor, it has largely failed to put them into
effect: the government barely monitors child labor in mining and does not penalize employers
or remove children from the industry.

Government has taken significant steps to ensure universal education, the number of
out-of-school children working in gold mines remains a source of concern. Mining and
environmental regulations for small-scale mines have gone unenforced, despite the
government's promise to reduce mercury and make mining more beneficial to the public.

Solutions

when the government pays attention to the people in remote areas, support what they
need to build their family out of poverty.such as repairing roads in places, and running a good
school and supporting teachers because teachers lack support such as handing out books and
so on. And if the government can give other jobs to the people here, a training program can be
started so that the people can now earn more money.
