I. FUNDAMENTAL COUNTING PRINCIPLE: 10 POINTS

A. How many 3 digit even numbers can be made from 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 if repetition of digits is not allowed ?

B. How many car plates you can make if you are only allowed to use 2 letters of the Alphabet and 3 numbers , and
repetition of letters and numbers are allowed in any order ?

II. PERMUTATION 10 points

A. How many arrangements of all letters can be made from the word “ COPROCESSORS “

B. The English word D E R M A T O G L Y P H I C S means the Study of Fingerprints . How many 5 letter
arrangements without repetition can be made from this word ?

III. COMBINATION 5 points

A. A major Lottery game called 6/58 is very famous in the Philippines. A lucky winner will emerge if he picks 6 correct numbers
in any order from the numbers 1 to 58. How many 6 number combinations are there in this kind of lottery game?

IV. PROBABILITY ( 10 points )

A. A Coin and a Die are tossed together, what is the Probability that a Face on the Coin and number 5 on a
Die will both come up ?

B. Two cards are drawn successively from a deck of 52 cards, what is the Probability that the first card drawn
will be an ACE card and the second card drawn is a Face card ?

IV. LINEAR PROGRAMMING ( 10 points )

Instruction: Use a Table for the Data given, Construct the Objective Function, Constraints, Test the extreme points and
Maximize the Sales

1. A Garments Factory produces 2 kinds of curtains: Curtain A and Curtain B. For materials, the factory has 2250
sq. meter of satin fabric and 1200 sq. meter of silk fabric. To produce curtain A, it needs 6 sq. meters of satin fabric
and 4 sq, meters of silk fabric , while producing curtain B requires 3 sq. meters of satin and 1 sq. meter of silk fabric. If
the curtain A can sold for P 200 per set and Curtain B can be sold for P 150 per set, what is the number of curtain A
and curtain B that the garment factory must produce to obtain a maximum sale?

2. A rectangular fence is to be constructed using a 150 ft. of wire fence, what should be the dimensions of the fence
to obtain the largest Area possible?
