Time Tracking Time Configuration Analyzer Tool TimeCAT FAQ
Time Tracking Time Configuration Analyzer Tool TimeCAT FAQ
The Time Configuration Analyzer Tool, also known as TimeCAT, is a Workday delivered configuration
analyzer tool available only to implementers to assist with the analysis and understanding of Time
Tracking configuration in a tenant.
This feature was released to Production in June, 2016 as part of a Workday 26 Service Update.
As of Workday 31, Time CAT will be run as a background process, to improve the runtime performance
of the tool for some of our very large customers. A background process means, the process to run the tool
will be slightly different than it was before. So please follow the instructions under the "How do I run
Time CAT in my Workday tenant?"
This tool is for implementers only, and to use it, you can search for the "Time Configuration Analyzer
Tool" in your Workday tenant.
This is a back end tool, that is not intended to be run by customers. Time Tracking implementers must
own running this tool.
Every Time Tracking Consultant on a Workday Time Tracking implementation should be running Time
CAT throughout the duration of the implementation to ensure configuration is efficient and optimized.
Validation of Configuration: TimeCAT is a Workday delivered configuration analyzer tool that searches
Time Tracking configuration for inefficiencies. Prior to this enhancement, there was no central tool
available to review, understand, and troubleshoot Time Tracking configuration.
Performance: The goal of the Time CAT is to ensure that there are no performance issues during a
customers go live. Workday wants to take a proactive approach to ensure tenants are configured correctly,
to optimize performance.
The Time CAT should be run at the beginning, middle, and end for every Time Tracking deployment.
There is a section on the Time Tracking Delivery Assurance Template that requires the TT Consultant to
copy and paste the results of the Time CAT.
How do I run Time CAT in my Workday tenant?
1. In the search bar, search for "Run Time Config Analyzer Tool" - this is anew task that kicks off the
background process, that is new with Workday 31.
2. Select a Run Frequency of either "Run Now" or "Run Once in the Future" or "Monthly Ocurrance"
4. Once background process is completed, the Implementer will receive a notification in their Inbox that the
Time CAT background process has completed.
5. Click the View Time Configuration Analyzer Tool button in the notification. Then click on the Excel icon to
export the TimeCAT Warnings. This is the output that should be imported into the Delivery Assurance template
to complete the DA review.

include the output of the Time CAT in your Delivery Assurance Template for your DA Reviewer. We also still
suggest that you attempt to streamline your Time Tracking configuration in the best interest of Performance.

How do I ensure the Time Tracking Consultant on my project is running the Time CAT?
The Delivery Assurance Review Template will check for the Time CAT Results, and whether or not a
