Activity Day 2: Process Questions
1. Why do you think Christianity is the world’s most popular religion in terms of number of its adherents? If we look back at history, we can see how Christianity evolved from a small number of adherents to becoming the world’s largest religion in terms of believers. Even though the Roman Empire persecuted early Christians, Christianity becomes the official religion of the empire when Constantine became the Emperor. Through it, the Christian belief spread all over the territories of the Roman Empire. Constantine also helps Christianity to establish the Christian faith by creating the First Council of Nicea. The religion still flourished even it undergone several schisms. European occupation during the 15th and 16th centuries also have an essential role in making Christianity the world’s most numerous adherents. They established Christian churches and used Christian beliefs and values as the foundation of their society. They also required people to convert to Christianity and practice their beliefs and traditions. With these events, Christianity becomes the world’s most popular religion in terms of the number of its followers. 2. What does Christianity share with Judaism in terms of beliefs and practices? As Christianity evolves from Judaism, we can say that a lot of beliefs and practices are identical to each other. The two religions believe in the same God that Abraham has a covenant with, claiming that the members of their religion come from the descent of Abraham. They also considered the Old Testament as part of their holy scriptures, which makes them unified in following the Ten Commandments. All of the prophets, angels, and other personalities in the Old Testament were recognized by two religions. 3. What is the core teaching of Christianity? The core teaching of Christianity is there is only one God that has three co-eternal, consubstantial personas that were taught by Jesus Christ, which is the Son of God, Messiah, and Savior for humankind. He was sent by God the Father to the land to fulfill the prophecies from the Old Testament, to save the people from eternal damnation.

Activity Day 4: Process Questions
1. Why would Christians subscribe to monotheism while at the same time asserting that God is a Trinity of Divine Persons? Trinity does not equate to having three Gods. It is the manifestation of God’s capacity to have three roles while being one in communicating with humanity. The insertion of Christians in the Holy Trinity of God is dated back to the 3rd century when the Church Fathers want to justify the connection and the relationship of Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit from the holy scriptures and the traditions. With that, the early Christians created the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. The Trinity does not mean having three Gods as it assumes that God is one, but has three co-eternal, consubstantial personas. It signifies that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is equal in its substance but different in its functions and characteristics. 2. What is it about Christianity that you find inspiring? What did you find beautiful about it? Describe how these affect your thoughts and feelings about Christianity and its adherents. The belief that I find inspiring and beautiful in Christianity is the teaching of Jesus about love and compassion to others. In the New Testament, Jesus gives Christians a new commandment, which is to love one another. As I am a follower of Christ as I belong to the universal church (Roman Catholicism), it teaches me how to interact and understand other people. With the commandment of Jesus to us, we need to show love and compassion with our brothers and sisters with self-sacrifice, as it will make the world to be away from sins because sins are the consequence of our selfish actions. Through that commandment, we enable ourselves to love humanly and without conditions, which I think makes Christianity a guide that will help the world to be stable from evil. 3. Is there anything about Christianity that disturbs you? How would you like to express this to Christians? Some of the verses or teachings in the old and new testament contradict each other that causes perplexity. This confusion has also created a schism in the religion, which explains why there are many Christian denominations created. If I express my concern about this issue to other Christians, I would say those contradicting verses in the old and new testament and ask if what should be the factual and authentic teaching of God and why would it be that verse or testament.
