Determine whether each of the following is TRUE or FALSE. If the statement is FALSE,
provide an explanation for your response. You may show the correct working or examples as
explanation.
1. The domain of a one-to-one function f is the range of the inverse f −1.
2. If it is not possible for a horizontal line to intersect the graph of a function more than
once, then the function is one-to-one and its inverse is a function.
3. The inverse of an even function f , f −1 is a function.
4. The range of all logarithmic functions is ¿.
5. The horizontal asymptote of y=2x is y=0
6. Both graph of f ( x )=x 3 and g ( x )=3 x does not have asymptotes.
7. The nth root of a constant, a converges to 1.
8. Suppose that $10 000 is invested for 8 years of 6.4% interest, compounded annually. The
interest earned in the eighth year will be the most.
9. The y-intercept of f ( x )=e−x is (0 ,−1)
10. The logarithm of a sum is not the sum of the logarithms.
11. The logarithm of a product/quotient is not the product/quotient of the logarithms.
12. The power of a logarithm is the exponent times the logarithm.
13. To obtain graph of g ( x )=e x−1 from graph of f ( x )=ln x, reflect the graph across straight
line y=x, then shift the graph 2 units to the right.
14. There are two solutions for the equation ln ( x +10 )−ln (x+ 4)=ln x .
