SKYPE INTERVIEW FEEDBACK

CANDIDATE - A320 CAPTAIN ( MAY 2019)

Here are the questions that I was asked in my interview:

Introduction: Tell me about yourself. Work experience, past airlines. Total flying experience,
command experience on Airbus320 aircraft. Have you flown A321? Why you want to join VNA?

Technical Questions:
• How many Memory item is on A320 ?
• Explain stall at takeoff memory item.
• Explain stall in cruise memory item.
• Explain TCAS memory item : Both auto TCAS ( in Neo aircraft) & TCAS on IAE and CFM
engine aircraft.
• Explain Brake check procedure in old A320 aircraft.
• Explain functions of ABCU ( alternate braking control unit)
• How many types of braking available in alternate braking.
• Difference between RED warnings and Amber Caution.
• Task sharing in Case of failure.
• Single engine action after v1.
• Latest Fcom revisions.
• Max bank angle in case of single engine.

CANDIDATE - A320 TRI ( MAY 2019)

Everybody was polite and friendly.

Here are the questions that they asked me during the interview:
- About myself;
- Emergency descend (Memory item);
- Emer Elec Config (tell and explain by FCOM or QRH);
- How to teach to land;
- You’re taking at FLEX power and at thrust reduction alt you do not set CLB. What should we expect?
(Limitation 10 min);
-If we turn off predictive windshear switch and weather radar , will predictive windshear function work
or not? (No will not work, as it uses WX Radar, but main windshear function will work with a help of
Flight Augmentation Computer(FAC)).
CANDIDATE - B787 CAPTAIN (APRIL 2019)

Here is what my interview entailed:

• Overview of the candidate


• Why do you want to leave your employer
• Do you know the country or anyone working here

Technical Questions:

• AFDS components (this is way to vague a question)


• Fail passive and Fail operational concepts
• Autothrottle wake-up functions
• PBN What it is and definitions
• Something about CAT2/3
• Memory Items. How many?
• Maneouvers that require immediate action in flight. -I did not recite the checklist items, but
gave a general overview.

CANDIDATE - A320 CAPTAIN ( APRIL 2019)

Here are some questions that I was asked during my interview:

Intro:

- Tell me about yourself and your experience


- How long have you been a Captain on the A320 (I stated my hours to show my experience)
- Why do you want to work for Vietnam Airlines
- What makes us different than your current company
- How do you know about Vietnam Airlines? (colleagues , internet, etc)
- What do you know about Vietnam Airlines and the country?
- Do you have experience on A320/321? What is in your current fleet?

Technical questions:

- On A321 which engine do you use? CFM or…


o VNA does have NEO now. Do you have experience on this?
- What is the max AGT for engine start?
- How many memory items and can you list them?
- Procedures for early/emergency decent? (seems that VNA instructor went through a whole
emergency situation).
o What about maximum speed?
o When do you use maximum speed and what is it?
o What is MMO and GMO?
o Talked about Landing gear.
o Talked about when to use the oxygen masks
- What calculations do you use for takeoff speed?
o Flysmart?
- What is the flight temperature for takeoff?
- Minimum thrust reduction altitude and maximum thrust reduction altitudes
- What state do you have to preform manual transmission start?
- Tailwind

CANDIDATE - A320 CAPTAIN ( APRIL 2019)

My interview was with Capt Chan. It wasn’t very long. Here are some items that we covered:

1) Unreliable speed
2) Lowvis cat11,
3) RNAV approach tolerance
4) Loss of braking
5) Minimum thrust reduction altitude and maximum thrust reduction altitudes
