Math 4 Q1, A

This contextualized lesson plan teaches students to multiply 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers without regrouping using bananas as a real-world context. The lesson includes preliminary drills on multiplication facts, an example word problem about multiplying the number of bananas in baskets, and group activities for students to practice the skill. Students then analyze their work, generalize the multiplication method, and apply it to solve additional banana-related word problems. The lesson concludes with assignments for remediation and enrichment.

CONTEXTUALIZED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 4

CONTEXTUALIZED LEARNING RESOURCE (DCLR)

I. OBJECTIVES
Multiplies numbers up to 3-digit numbers by up to 2-digit
Learning Competencies/ numbers without or with regrouping.
Objectives (M4NS-Ic-43.7)
 Multiplies numbers up to 3-digit numbers by up to 2-
digit numbers without regrouping using banana.

KBI: Eats nutritious food

II. CONTENTS Multiplying Numbers Up to 3-Digit Numbers by Up to 2-

Digit Numbers Without Regrouping
III. LEARNING
RESOURCES
A. References
Teacher’s Guide
Learner’s Material Pages 23-27
Textbook Page
Additional Materials Item Bank, page 10 first quarter, Flashcards, charts, activity
cards, real/picture of banana
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activity Drill
Have a drill on basic multiplication facts.

Review
Recall on multiplying 2-digit number by 1-digit
number.

Motivation
Show a picture (or a real) of banana.

Ask: What do you see in this picture? Do you know this

fruit? What do you call this fruit here in our place? Do
you eat this? What do you get from eating banana?
(Infuse the KBI. Tell something about a banana.)
B. Developmental Activity Activity 1

Present the problem below.

Aling Juana sold baskets of bananas in the market. If

there are 323 bananas in a basket, how many bananas are
there in 32 baskets?

Ask: Who sold baskets of bananas in the market? What did

she sell? Where did she sell the baskets of the
bananas? What are we looking for? What operation
are we going to use? How are we going to solve this
problem?

(Lead and show the pupils on how to multiply 3-digit

numbers by 2-digit numbers without regrouping. Introduce
the using of place value chart and the short method in
multiplying. Give other examples.)

Activity 2

Group the pupils into four. Give each group same

activity to do.
Group I Group II Group IIII Group IV
789 412 123 622
X 11 x 23 x 33 x 32

(Set Standards for group activity first before doing the given
task. Presentation and reporting of each group’s work.)

Activity 3

Multiply. Then, use the code below to answer the riddle

below.
“I have two hands but, no arms.”
A C I K L M O R U Y

1. 322 2. 342 3. 894 4. 144 5. 211 6. 231

X12 x 22 x 23 x 3 x 3 x 22

(Call some pupils to answer.)

C. Analysis Ask: How did you find the activity? How many digits are
there in the multiplicand? How about in the multiplier?
How many partial products are there? How did you
write the second partial product using the short
method? What did you do with the two partial
products? Which is easier to use, the long method or
the short method?
D. Abstraction Ask: How do you multiply 3-digit numbers by 2-digit
numbers without regrouping?

(Lead the pupils to generalize the following: )

In multiplying 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers

without regrouping, multiply all the digits in the
multiplicand from right to left by each digit in the multiplier.
Then, add the partial products to get the final product.

E. Application Read and solve.

1. Mang Roman harvested 22 baskets of bananas from
his farm. He sold it at Php213 per basket. How much
did he earn from selling?

F. Assessment Find the product.

1. 324 2. 404 3. 589

X 22 x 21 x 11

4. 322 5. 342

G. Assignment Remediation

Find the product.

1. 312 2. 233 3. 222

X 22 x 31 x 34

Enrichment

Read, analyze, and solve.

1. Mr. Cruz has a banana plantation. There are 423

banana plants in a row. If there are 32 rows, how
