COURSE DESCRIPTION :

There has been an increasing trend in cyberattacks on operation technology, particularly power grid infrastructure. But the
unique nature of these OT environments involves particular methodologies to secure them, which are very different from the
cybersecurity of IT systems. This course is to fill this gap.
The course has a practical approach to power system operational technologies cyber security from concept to actionable
insights. An industry expert will deliver the course having long practical experience in cybersecurity of power grid and smart
grid including SCADA system. Real-life case studies will be discussed along with learnings and applied actions to on site systems.

COURSE OUTLINE :

The course lays the foundation and describes the basic functions and goals of cyber security of power grid and
smart grid. The course provides an overview of data and command flow through a basic OT network and how OT
components and protocols ensure the safety and secure communication of data through the network. Outline of
course is given below :-

Fundamentals of OT security with emphasis on cybersecurity of power grid & smart grid.
Vulnerabilities from OT/IT integration and its remedies.
Learn actionable insights to implement, monitor, detect and respond to cybersecurity of power grid and smart grid.
Overview of cybersecurity standards and their selection.
The various security measures available to power grid and smart grid use for mitigation of risks from cybersecurity.
Practical learnings from real-life case studies of attack on OT platform.
How System Integrity Protection Schemes (SIPS) and other conventional security systems of electric grid help in
ensuring cybersecurity of power grid and smart grid.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY :

The training will be facilitated using modern techniques, supported by case studies from real application
environment and videos. The training will be imparted through online platform. Easy to understand and easy to
comprehend, more visual graphics based presentations will be used throughout the course. There will be total eight
sessions during the course with progressive learnings of concepts from fundamentals to a novice level. Each session
will has quiz questions jointly discussed with full explanation to enhance concepts learned during the session.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES :

To gain knowledge on the fundamentals of any cyberattack on power grid and smart grid. Protect and apply
cybersecurity controls based on fundamental principles of anatomy of cyber-attack on OT.
