1.4 Electronic Portfolio: What Is The Purpose of This Project?

1. An electronic portfolio or ePortfolio is a digital collection of work and reflections that allows students to track their progress and achievements over time. 2. Students are instructed to create their own ePortfolio to document their activities, outputs, learning, performance, and self-evaluations from a course. The ePortfolio should be organized and include reflections. 3. Guidelines are provided on the content and structure of the ePortfolio, including a home page, table of contents, outputs with reflections, self-evaluation, and conclusion. Students will be evaluated on their ePortfolio using a provided rubric.

4 Electronic Portfolio

Open your cabinet or closet. How organized is it? Is everything kept in the right
location? Can you easily locate what you are looking for? A cluttered cabinet reflects a
disorganized owner.

Learning is likened to it. If ideas are organized in a good location, learning is surely
easier and meaningful.

An electronic portfolio or sometimes called digital portfolio is a collection of electronic evidence assembled
and managed by a user, usually on the Web.
Portfolios are one good means of keeping things in order. In a semester work, a learning portfolio is a
collection of student work that exhibits students’ effort, progress, achievements, and competencies gained during the
course.

What is the purpose of this project?

The aims of this task are for you to:
1. Document all your activities and outputs in this course.
2. Monitor and reflect your learning and performance, and
3. Conduct self-evaluation of one’s own understanding of concepts, development and progress, strengths and
weaknesses, and overall learning in this course.

Specific Guidelines:
1. You have the freedom in the design of your ePortfolio:

2. Your ePortfolios should contain the following

a. Home Page – consist of
i. Name
ii. Title of ePortfolio
iii. Date Submitted
iv. Your goals, hobbies and quotes that helps you keep moving and anything that you wanted
to share.
b. Table of Contents - contain the parts of that specific page.
c. Outputs (with captions/ annotations/ comments & reflections) – includes all the work done in the
course with your reflections on each
d. Self-evaluation – contains your evaluation of yourself and your performance throughout the
duration of the course.
e. Summary and Conclusion – a summative or retrospective reflection about your overall learning as
shown in the outputs and artifacts in the portfolio.
3. What makes ePortfolios substantial is the reflection that comes with it. It is important that you do effective
and meaningful reflections on your work and experiences.
Your reflection essays should not only demonstrate understanding but most importantly, high-order thinking
skills and should transverse the levels of reflection – primarily from dialogic reflection to critical reflection. You should,
therefore, evaluate your reflections based on these.

Creating an Online Portfolio Using a Site

There are many sites that can be used in creating an ePortfolio. One of which is the google site. If you have
a google account, you can start using the available applications. You can also try weebly, or wix, among others.
Here is a sample of a google site made second year students named Melody Calunsag and Riovir
Rodriguez.

PROJECT:
Now, it is your turn to develop your own electronic portfolio. I will check your ePortfolio twice:
Midterm and Final Term.

EVALUATION GUIDELINES:
Your ePortfolio will be evaluated based on the scoring rubric on the next page. Use the rubrics to critique
your work before submitting it for rating. In this way, you may still do some final revisions and adjustments if you find
them necessary.
